What is this?
Fly Paradise (果蝇乐园) is a Windows desktop virtual pet: a little colony of fruit flies lives and breeds right on your desktop.
So is it a game, or more of a desktop-pet toy?
A desktop-pet style simulation: the flies live on your desktop and you raise them yourself. It ships as Windows .exe installers, not a web or mobile app.
How do I get it onto my computer?
Grab an installer from GitHub Releases: fly-paradise-setup-0.3.6.exe for the regular edition, or fly-paradise-welfare-setup-0.3.6.exe for the welfare edition — then just run the .exe.
Do I need Node.js or anything else installed first?
No — you just run the downloaded installer; no prerequisites are mentioned. Node and npm only matter if you want to run it from source: npm run start:annoy starts the welfare edition preview.
How big can my fly colony actually get?
In the regular edition you top out at 12 adult flies, and getting all 12 to green is how you clear it. The welfare edition removes the cap — more egg-laying and no population limit.
Why would I install one of these on a friend's computer?
That is the welfare edition's whole idea: a gag build meant for a friend's PC that switches on auto-start with Windows by default, so the flies greet them at every boot.
Is it free to download?
Yes — both installers are free downloads on the GitHub Releases page; no price or paid plan is mentioned anywhere.
Does the regular edition also launch when Windows boots?
No — the normal installer ships with auto-start disabled, so it only runs when you open it yourself.
