DLSS-NR on AMD

Run DLSS 5 Neural Rendering on AMD Radeon RX 9000 (RDNA4) and 7000 (RDNA3) cards, in any DirectX 12 game that uses FSR.

Join the Discord for support, early access to new mod builds and testing.

Download

Get dlssnr_on_amd_setup.exe from the latest release.

Install

  1. Place dlssnr_on_amd_setup.exe in the game exe folder, for Cyberpunk 2077 that is bin\x64.
  2. Get a copy of nvngx_dlssnr.dll (DLSS 5 Neural Rendering, build 310.8.0.0, you can get it from games that support DLSS 5) and place it in the same folder.
  3. Run dlssnr_on_amd_setup.exe and follow the instructions.
  4. Start the game and enable FSR (any FSR 3 / FSR 4 works, any quality / FSRAA). Press End to open the overlay.

Run dlssnr_on_amd_setup.exe again to update (U) or remove (R).

What to expect

Output quality is very similar to what DLSS produces on the original hardware, though there are still some effects that may not be working 100%.

Performance is still a work in progress: roughly 33 FPS at 1080p on an RX 9070 XT. I'm improving performance every day, goal is to get it to run as fast as a 5070Ti. Check back for new releases.

In-game overlay

End key to open. Up/Down/Left/Right to adjust, Enter toggles. Options: Mode (inline / async, for photo mode only), Tone intensity, Structure intensity, Skin structure. Model selection is planned.

Searching Database…

What is this? This is a mod that lets you run DLSS 5 Neural Rendering on AMD Radeon GPUs (RX 7000/9000 series) in any DirectX 12 game that supports FSR, by reimplementing the DLSS neural network runtime for AMD hardware from scratch.
Is this just a compatibility wrapper that pirates Nvidia's code? No, it is a ground-up reimplementation of the DLSS neural network runtime for AMD hardware (HIP kernels, memory layouts, game integration) written from scratch, with no Nvidia code included or translated at runtime.
Where do I get the DLSS DLL file it needs? You must supply your own copy of nvngxdlssnr.dll (DLSS 5 Neural Rendering, build 310.8.0.0) extracted from a game that already supports DLSS 5 — the mod does not ship this file itself.
Does it run at full speed and work perfectly? Not yet — performance is a work in progress, currently around 33 FPS at 1080p on an RX 9070 XT with a goal of matching an RTX 5070 Ti, and some visual effects may not work 100% correctly.
Will it work on older AMD GPUs, other APIs, or on Linux? No — it currently needs an RX 9000 (RDNA4) or RX 7000 (RDNA3) Radeon GPU on Windows 11 with Adrenalin driver 26.1.1 or later in a DirectX 12 game; older GPUs aren't supported yet, and Vulkan support is planned for later.
Does anti-cheat cause problems?Yes — games with anti-cheat software will block the injected DLL, so you need to play with anti-cheat disabled to use this mod.
What can I control in the in-game overlay?Press End to open an overlay where arrow keys adjust settings and Enter toggles them, covering render mode (inline/async), tone intensity, structure intensity, and skin structure; model selection is planned for a future update.
Which games has it actually been tested on?It has been tested on Cyberpunk 2077 and GTA V Enhanced, and should work in any DirectX 12 title that supports FSR 3 or FSR 4.
How can I help the project? You can donate via Ko-fi to fund GPU testing hardware, or test the mod on your own RX 7000 card or other games and report issues with the log file attached.
