What is this?GhostTrack is a Python command-line OSINT tool used to track a target's approximate location or gather details about a phone number, essentially a piece of information-gathering tooling for recon work.
Is this a standalone tracker, or does it rely on another tool? It's a menu-driven Python CLI with its own IP Track and phone number lookup menus, but for IP-based location tracking it's meant to be combined with the separate Seeker tool rather than geolocating on its own.
How do I get it running?Clone the repository and run the Python script from a terminal; if you want the IP-tracking combo feature, there's also a separate step to install the Seeker tool.
Do I need Seeker installed separately?Only for IP-based location tracking - the README has a dedicated 'Install Seeker' step for that combo, while the phone number lookup menu works on its own.
How accurate is the phone number lookup? The README only says the tool searches for information tied to the target phone number and displays it on a menu; it gives no detail on what data fields are returned or how precise they are.
Does this run on Termux on Android, or only desktop Linux?Yes, it's built as a Termux-friendly Python tool as well as running on regular Linux, based on its Termux-related metadata.
What is the Seeker tool mentioned alongside GhostTrack?Seeker is a separate OSINT utility for capturing a target's IP-based location; GhostTrack's IP Track menu is designed to pair with it to add location-tracking capability.
Is GhostTrack meant for ethical hacking use only? Its GitHub topics (cybersecurity, pentesting, hacking-tool, osint) frame it as a penetration-testing/OSINT utility, so it should only be run against targets you have permission to investigate.
Does it have a graphical interface? No, it's a text menu-driven Python command-line tool with options like IP Track and phone number lookup rather than a GUI.
