What is this?A community checklist of the most important security countermeasures to apply when designing, testing, and releasing an API — a list of checkboxes you run through before shipping.
So is it a tool I install, or more like a document?A document — plain markdown in the README, nothing to install or run. It is split into sections like Authentication, Access and Output, each a list of checkboxes you tick off during review.
Does it show me how to implement each measure, or just what to check?Just what to check: every item is a one-line rule, like skipping Basic Auth or turning DEBUG mode off. There is no code or step-by-step tutorial, so implementation is on you.
What is an example of the concrete advice inside?Small design choices with big impact: serve /me/orders instead of /user/654321/orders, use UUIDs instead of auto-increment IDs, and return generic error messages so clients cannot fingerprint your stack.
Does it cover release pipelines too?Yes — audit design and implementation with unit/integration tests, require code review without self-approval, continuously run static and dynamic security analysis, check dependencies for known vulnerabilities, and design a rollback solution for deployments.
Does it point to any related resources? It links yosriady/api-development-tools, a companion collection of useful resources for building RESTful HTTP+JSON APIs.
