What is this?
React Router is a multi-strategy router for React: it lets you define routes and handle navigation in React apps.
Is it a framework or a library?
Both by design: you can adopt it maximally as a full React framework, or minimally as a plain library inside your own architecture.
Which getting started guide should I follow?
Two Getting Started guides are linked - one for framework mode, one for library mode - so you follow the path you chose.
What does my app need before I can use it?
It is a router for React, so React itself is the base requirement; the repo's own toolchain builds with pnpm on Node >=22.22.0.
How bumpy are upgrades between major versions?
Major migrations are expected: the README keeps an Upgrade from v7 guide and archives docs for previous versions v5, v6, and v7.
Which packages does the project ship?
Core react-router plus create-react-router, @react-router/dev, @react-router/node, @react-router/serve, adapters for Express, Architect and Cloudflare, and @react-router/fs-routes for file-based routes.
