Stable versions:

You can also find early access builds in the GitHub Actions page. There's also a Web version available. Keep in mind that these versions will have bugs and are unstable. Unless you're interested in testing the main branch of Pixelorama, it's recommended that you stick to a stable version.

Documentation

You can find online Documentation for Pixelorama here: https://orama-interactive.github.io/Pixelorama-Docs

It's still a work in progress so there are some pages missing. If you want to contribute, you can do so in Pixelorama-Docs' GitHub Repository.

Cloning Instructions

Pixelorama uses Godot 4.7.2, so you will need to have it in order to run the project. Older versions will not work. As of right now, most of the code is written using GDScript, so the Mono version of Godot is not required, but Pixelorama should also work with it.

What is this?Pixelorama is a free and open-source pixel art multitool: an editor for creating sprites, tiles and animations, with a large toolbox built around pixel art and game art.
Are the early-access builds okay for everyday use?No — the README warns they will have bugs and are unstable, so it recommends sticking to a stable release unless you specifically want to test the main branch.
Is it a desktop app, or can I run it in the browser too? Both. Native builds run on Windows, Linux and macOS, and there is also a Web version you can open straight in the browser.
What does it offer that a regular image editor does not?Pixel-art-specific algorithms: perfect pixel lines, indexed mode, and rotation and scaling methods like cleanEdge, OmniScale and rotxel built for pixel art. You can also map different tools to the left and right mouse buttons for a faster workflow.
Can I mix 3D into my pixel art?Yes — 3D layers let you bring 3D models and shapes onto your 2D canvas, and community-made extensions can even convert your 2D pixels into 3D voxels.
What happens if the app crashes while I am drawing?Pixelorama keeps automatic backups of your work, so after an unexpected crash you can recover your art instead of losing the whole session.
