What is this?
A joke desktop app for when Claude Code is too slow: a whip lives in your system tray, and whipping him sends Claude Code a Ctrl-C interrupt plus one of five encouraging messages.
Is this a plugin inside Claude Code or a separate app?
A separate app: an Electron tray application you run alongside Claude Code in your terminal. It does not hook into Claude Code itself — it just sends keyboard events to your machine.
How do I get it running?
Install dependencies and launch it like any Electron app: npm install, then npm start (runs electron .) with Node 18 or newer. Windows and Mac need nothing extra.
Does it work on Linux too, or only Windows and Mac?
Linux works, but you must install xdotool first for the keyboard automation — that is the only platform gotcha.
How do the controls work?
Two clicks: one on the tray icon to spawn the whip, one to drop it. Then you whip him — the app takes care of the interrupt and the pep talk.
What's on the roadmap?
Mostly jokes: the initial release is checked off (and so is a cease-and-desist letter from Anthropic), while a crypto miner, whip-count logs, and updated whip physics are still unchecked.
What's the OpenWhip ecosystem token about?
The README advertises an 'OFFICIAL' OpenWhip ecosystem token with a contract address and points to X for updates. Treat it as part of the joke, not a reason to buy anything.
