What is this?
MeterSphere is an open-source continuous testing platform with a built-in AI assistant, designed to make software testing simpler and faster so it stops being the bottleneck of continuous delivery.
Is this a desktop app, or does it run somewhere I point my browser at?
It runs on a server, not your own machine: MeterSphere is a self-hosted web platform you use through a browser, with your whole team working against the same instance.
How do I get it deployed?
Quickest route is deploying through the 1Panel app store; for production the README recommends the offline installation package. Plugins are added afterwards from the separate MeterSphere plugin marketplace.
What does running it actually involve — is it a single lightweight binary?
No, it's a whole stack: a Spring Boot backend and Vue.js frontend on Docker infrastructure, with MySQL, Kafka, MinIO and Redis as middleware, and JMeter as the test engine.
Is the whole thing free, or are parts of it paid?
V3 comes in two editions — a Community Edition and an Enterprise Edition — and older V1 and V2 are no longer maintained, so any new deployment starts on V3.
Is it built for solo testers or for teams working together?
For teams: it uses a system-organization-project layered design so testing work isn't trapped in single-machine tools and everyone collaborates in one place.
What does the test management side cover?
The full QA workflow: test case management, test plan execution, defect management and test report generation — the README claims a far better experience than traditional test management tools.
How does it handle API testing?
It combines Postman's ease of use with JMeter's flexibility, covering API debugging, API definitions, mocking, scenario automation and reporting end to end.
What can the built-in AI assistant do?
It's based on a large model and can generate functional test cases and API test cases for you, cutting down manual test authoring.
Can it hook into a DevOps pipeline?
Yes — the plugin system extends MeterSphere's testing capabilities and integrates it with DevOps pipelines, with plugins available from its own plugin marketplace.
