What is this?
Hydra Launcher is an open-source gaming platform meant to be the single tool you need to manage your game library, built with Electron, React, TypeScript, Python, and Rust.
Is this a desktop app or a web service?
It's a native desktop application (Electron + React + TypeScript on the frontend, with Python and Rust components) that runs on your machine.
Does it already handle the native build for me, or do I need to compile Rust manually?
No manual Rust step is needed for development: the postinstall hook now compiles the hydra-native Rust addon automatically after dependencies are installed.
Which operating systems can I package it for?
The build scripts target Windows, macOS, and Linux separately (yarn build:win, build:mac, build:linux), plus an unpacked build option.
What can I actually do with my game library in Hydra?
You can add games you own, build a profile that shows friends what you are playing, unlock achievements, and browse a catalogue with a suggestion algorithm to discover new games.
What is Hydra Cloud?
Hydra Cloud is the built-in feature that lets you save your game progress to the cloud so it follows you across installs.
Does Hydra track achievements for my games?
Yes, unlocking and tracking achievements is one of the core features listed for the library management side of Hydra.
Where can I find the full documentation?
Full setup and contribution docs are hosted at docs.hydralauncher.gg.
