What is this?Resty is a simple HTTP, REST, and SSE client library for Go — you add it to your Go project to call web services.
Is it a library I import into my Go code, or a command-line tool?It is a library: you import the module and call it from your own Go code. There is nothing to run or install separately, and it has been a proper Go module since v1.10.0.
How do I get it into my project?Run go get github.com/go-resty/resty/v2 and import it in your code; you need Go 1.23 or newer. The API reference lives on godoc.
There are v1, v2, and v3 — which one do I pick? The three major lines have different import paths: v3 is the newest, served from the resty.dev/v3 vanity URL; v2 is the github.com/go-resty/resty/v2 module; the older v1 series ships via gopkg.in and is described as stable for production.
Can I use it for free, including in commercial projects? The code is released under the MIT license, so it is free for any use including commercial; only the documentation and website are under Apache-2.0.
What can it do beyond plain GET and POST requests? It ships retry with backoff, a circuit breaker, middleware support, HTTP tracing, curl-command logging, digest authentication, redirect control, and client-side load balancing through service discovery with SRV records.
Is it battle-tested enough for production?Resty has been around since 2015 and has roughly 11.8k GitHub stars. Versioning strictly follows Semantic Versioning, so upgrades between releases are predictable.
What are similar projects?go-zero, posting, node-restify, chi, fiber, martini, guzzle, aiohttp
