Redash is designed to enable anyone, regardless of the level of technical sophistication, to harness the power of data big and small. SQL users leverage Redash to explore, query, visualize, and share data from any data source. Their work, in turn, enables anybody in their organization to use the data. Every day, millions of users at thousands of organizations around the world use Redash to develop insights and make data-driven decisions.

Redash features:

  1. Browser-based: Everything in your browser, with a shareable URL.
  2. Ease-of-use: Become immediately productive with data without the need to master complex software.
  3. Query editor: Quickly compose SQL and NoSQL queries with a schema browser and auto-complete.
  4. Visualization and dashboards: Create beautiful visualizations with drag and drop, and combine them into a single dashboard.
  5. Sharing: Collaborate easily by sharing visualizations and their associated queries, enabling peer review of reports and queries.
  6. Schedule refreshes: Automatically update your charts and dashboards at regular intervals you define.
  7. Alerts: Define conditions and be alerted instantly when your data changes.
  8. REST API: Everything that can be done in the UI is also available through the REST API.
  9. Broad support for data sources: An extensible data source API with native support for a long list of common databases and platforms.

What is this?Redash is an open-source business intelligence platform: you connect data sources, explore and query them, visualize the results and share dashboards with your team. Thousands of organizations use it for data-driven decisions.
Is it a hosted service I sign up for, or something my company runs itself? You run your own Redash instance — it's a self-hosted server you deploy on your infrastructure or cloud. Once it's up, everyone works with it entirely in the browser via a shareable URL.
How do I get an instance running?Follow the Getting Started guide to set up a Redash instance — the project offers ready-made AWS and GCE images, and the repository ships Docker files for a self-hosted deployment.
Which data sources can I connect it to?More than 35 SQL and NoSQL sources are built in: PostgreSQL, MySQL, BigQuery, Snowflake, Redshift, MongoDB, Elasticsearch, Google Analytics, Excel, CSV, JSON and many others. New sources can be added through an extensible data source API.
Do I need to know SQL to get value out of it?Writing queries does require SQL or NoSQL skills, but consuming results doesn't: SQL users explore and share the data, and the rest of the organization works from their visualizations and dashboards.
Will my dashboards stay up to date on their own?Yes. You can schedule queries to refresh at intervals you define, and set alerts that notify you instantly when data meets a condition you specify.
Can I automate Redash instead of clicking through the UI?Yes — everything that can be done in the UI is also exposed through a REST API, so queries, dashboards and alerts can be managed programmatically.
My database isn't in the supported list — am I out of luck?Probably not. Beyond the 35+ built-in sources there's an extensible data source API for adding connectors, and Redash can also query generic CSV, JSON, Google Spreadsheets, Python and shell script output.
Is Redash free to use?Yes — the open-source project is licensed BSD-2-Clause, so you can self-host the full product at no cost beyond your own infrastructure.
