What is this?
Leak-check (厘查, by 嘉林数据/Jialin Data) is a Python tool for checking whether your personal information shows up in data that has been widely leaked and circulated on the internet. It's a self-hosted checker, not a public lookup website.
Is this a hosted lookup service or something I run myself?
It's something you run yourself — the README points you to an install script to build a local development environment rather than a public API you just call.
How do I get it running?
Clone the project and run the provided install script, which quickly sets up the development environment for you.
Do I need to supply my own leaked-data database?
Yes. The project doesn't ship a copy of leaked data — you can plug in any database you like, and the project itself defaults to SQLite.
Does it include any leak data out of the box?
No — it only provides the checking logic and storage layer (SQLite by default). You have to source, load, and maintain the actual leaked-data set yourself.
Does it keep logs of my queries?
No — the project states it does not record query history and won't disclose more information than what's being checked.
What exactly counts as a 'leak' here?
The project defines a leak as your personal information appearing in a portion of data that has become widely circulated across the internet — public exposure rather than a single private breach.
Can I fully remove it if I change my mind?
Yes, the README has a dedicated 'Complete Removal' section walking through how to fully uninstall it.
Why doesn't it ship the leaked data itself?
The project intentionally separates the checking tool from the data source, so you choose and control where your leak data comes from instead of relying on a bundled copy.
