What is this?SmarterStreaming (Daniu Live SDK) is a cross-platform streaming media kernel for Windows, Linux, Android and iOS: native modules for RTMP/RTSP push, playback, recording, relaying and mixing, with latency the vendor puts at 100-200 ms.
Is this an app I install, or something I build into my own app?It's an SDK of native modules you integrate into your own app, not an end-user product. The repo ships demo projects for each module (SmartPublisherDemo.exe, SmartPlayerV2, SmartiOSPlayerV2) so you can try before integrating.
How do I get it and start integrating?Demo source lives in this repo, but the SDK core ships as official trial builds you request from the vendor (daniusdk.com); per-platform integration docs for Windows, Android/iOS and Linux are linked in the README.
Do I need my own streaming server to use it?Not always: the pusher includes a built-in lightweight RTSP service, so clients on the same LAN can watch without any server. For public streaming you point it at any standard RTMP server (Nginx, SRS) or a CDN.
Any gotchas before I integrate it?On Windows the C++ demos are the most current and the C# ones lag behind; also some extras, like H.265 output from the built-in RTSP service, work only on specific Windows machines.
Which platforms does it cover?Windows (x86/x64), Linux including Kylin (x86_64/aarch64), Android (four ABIs), HarmonyOS NEXT and iOS (arm64), plus Unity builds for Windows, Linux, Android and iOS.
Is the SDK free and open source?No — the repo carries no open-source license. You get demo code here and request official trial builds from the vendor; production use means a commercial arrangement with 视沃科技 (Daniu Live SDK).
Which protocols and codecs does it actually support?Push: RTMP including extended/Enhanced RTMP H.265, plus GB28181 device registration on Android. Playback: RTMP, RTSP and HTTP-FLV. Video is H.264/H.265 with hardware and software encode/decode; audio AAC, Speex, PCMA/PCMU, plus SEI side-data for captions or timestamps.
How low is the latency in practice?That is the vendor's headline claim: 100-200 ms latency, an ultra-low-latency player mode and first-screen-in-a-second playback, pitched as a true millisecond-level live SDK rather than a conventional player.
What is the built-in lightweight RTSP service for?It turns the pusher itself into a small RTSP server, so intranet viewers (paperless classrooms, meeting rooms) get ultra-low delay without deploying a separate server. It supports unicast and multicast, and an RTSP gateway variant can feed external RTSP/RTMP streams into it.
What do teams actually build with it?Per the README: online education and smart classrooms, conferencing, law-enforcement body cameras, utility inspection (power lines, water, mining, rail), telemedicine, video door intercoms, security surveillance, plus IoT and in-vehicle devices.
