skills README

The project's README from github.com/almendili/skills. As one markdown file: README.md.

skills

Agent skills — portable instruction packs in the SKILL.md format, usable by any harness that reads it (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Gemini CLI, and others).

Skill What it does
architecture-map Builds an interactive isometric map of a repository — buildings sized by real measurements, flows tracing real call paths, and a drift counter that fails CI when the map falls behind the code.

Installing

Skills are discovered from a directory your tool scans. Symlink rather than copy, so git pull here updates every install at once:

# Claude Code (global, all projects)
ln -s "$PWD/architecture-map" ~/.claude/skills/architecture-map

# Codex
ln -s "$PWD/architecture-map" ~/.codex/skills/architecture-map

# Tools using the shared convention
ln -s "$PWD/architecture-map" ~/.agents/skills/architecture-map

# Scoped to one project, whatever the tool
ln -s "$PWD/architecture-map" /path/to/repo/.claude/skills/architecture-map

Create the target directory first if it does not exist. Skills load when a session starts, so open a new one afterwards.

What is in a skill

Portability

Nothing here depends on a specific harness. Where a skill wants a structured question it names one tool's mechanism as an example and gives a plain-text fallback; where it needs its own directory it resolves the path rather than reading a tool-specific environment variable.

What is this?A collection of agent skills — portable instruction packs written in the SKILL.md format that any AI coding agent harness can load and use, including Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, and Gemini CLI.
Is this a code library, or something else?It is not a library you import into code — each skill is a folder of markdown instructions, optional reference docs, scripts, and assets that an AI agent reads and executes at runtime.
How do I install these skills?Symlink this repo (or individual skill folders) into whatever directory your agent harness scans for skills, creating the target directory first if it doesn't exist.
Which coding agents can actually use these skills?Any harness that reads the SKILL.md format works, with Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, and Gemini CLI explicitly called out as supported.
Do I need to restart anything after installing a skill?Yes — skills only load when a session starts, so you need to open a new session in your agent tool after symlinking a skill in.
What does the included 'architecture-map' skill do?It builds an interactive isometric map of a repository, with buildings sized by real measurements, flows that trace real call paths, and a drift counter that fails CI when the map falls out of sync with the code.
How does a skill decide when to fire? The description field in SKILL.md's YAML frontmatter names the situations where the skill should apply, rather than just describing what it does, and that is what the harness matches against.
What other files can a skill include besides SKILL.md?A skill can have a references/ folder for detail loaded only when needed, a scripts/ folder for executables the skill runs (resolved relative to its own directory, not the target project), and an assets/ folder for files copied into the project being worked on.
Are these skills tied to one specific AI tool's features? No — where a skill needs a structured mechanism, it names one tool's feature as an example but always provides a plain-text fallback, and it resolves its own directory path instead of relying on a tool-specific environment variable.
