Searching Database…

What is this?Dockhand is a self-hosted web UI for managing Docker environments - containers, Compose stacks, images, and volumes - across local and remote hosts, with live monitoring, logs, and a built-in terminal.
Is this a desktop app, or something I run as a container? It is not a native desktop app - Dockhand itself runs as a Docker container and you manage everything through a browser dashboard, with its backend built on Bun and SvelteKit.
How do I connect it to my Docker hosts? You add each environment by connecting via a Unix socket, a lightweight agent, or a direct TCP connection to the Docker API, and you can mix local and remote hosts in the same dashboard.
Do I need a separate database to run Dockhand, or does it manage its own?Dockhand needs its own SQLite or PostgreSQL database for storage (via Drizzle ORM), and it talks to Docker hosts through the Docker API directly rather than shelling out to the CLI.
Is RBAC included for free?Authentication covers OIDC SSO and local users out of the box, but role-based access control (RBAC) is listed as an Enterprise-only add-on.
What's the catch with the license?Dockhand is licensed under the Business Source License 1.1: free for personal use, internal business use, non-profits, education, and evaluation, but you cannot offer it as a commercial SaaS or hosted service. It converts to Apache 2.0 on January 1, 2029.
Can it scan my images for vulnerabilities?Yes, it runs Grype and Trivy CVE scans per image and shows the results alongside each image's layers.
Can I deploy stacks straight from a Git repo?Yes - Dockhand can deploy Compose stacks from Git repositories with webhooks and auto-sync, so pushing to the repo redeploys the stack.
What does the underlying Docker image look like?Dockhand ships on its own minimal OS layer built from scratch with apko, where every package in the image is explicitly declared in the Dockerfile rather than inherited from a base distro.
Can I browse files inside running containers and volumes?Yes, it includes a file browser for uploading, downloading, and editing files directly inside containers and mounted volumes.
