What is this?
WeChatTweak is a macOS command-line tool that patches the installed WeChat desktop client to block message-recall notices, disable WeChat's automatic updater, and let you run multiple WeChat instances at once.
Is this a separate app, or does it modify my existing WeChat client?
It's not a standalone chat app — it hooks into and patches the real WeChat.app already installed on your Mac, adding features like blocking recalled-message notices and running several WeChat sessions at the same time.
Do I need Xcode or the Swift toolchain to build it?
Yes — the tool is written in Swift and compiled via a Makefile, so you need Xcode's command line tools on macOS to build and install it.
Could a WeChat update break this tweak?
Since it patches the actual WeChat binary and specifically disables WeChat's auto-updater, future WeChat releases could change internals the tweak relies on; the README doesn't list which exact WeChat versions are currently supported.
What does the AGPL-3.0 license mean for me here?
The project is released under AGPL-3.0, a strong copyleft license requiring that any modified or network-hosted version of the code also be released under the same terms.
Why would I want to run multiple WeChat instances?
WeChat's macOS client normally allows only one logged-in session; the multi-instance feature lets you stay logged into several WeChat accounts on the same Mac at once.
Can I control the tweak from Alfred or Raycast?
Yes, the project ships an Alfred workflow and is also distributed as a Raycast extension, so you can toggle its features from either launcher instead of the terminal.
What happens when someone recalls a message after I install this?
Normally WeChat replaces a recalled message with a generic notice; with recall-blocking enabled, the original message content stays visible to you instead of being hidden.
