What is this?
gog is a single command-line client for Google Workspace: Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Docs, Sheets and more, built for people, scripts, CI and AI agents.
Is it a single binary or a pile of separate tools?
One Go binary, with commands grouped by the resource you work with: 'gog gmail search', 'gog calendar events', 'gog drive ls', 'gog sheets', 'gog meet', and so on.
What do I need to set up on the Google side before it can reach my account?
A Google Cloud project with a Desktop OAuth client: create it, download the JSON, and authorize only the services you need. A five-minute quickstart covers API enablement, the consent screen and headless authorization.
Does it fully work with my personal Gmail account?
Consumer accounts work with user-facing APIs, but Admin Directory, Cloud Identity Groups, Chat, Keep and domain-wide delegation require a managed Google Workspace domain.
Can I grant it only the Gmail rights I actually need?
Yes — 'gog auth add [email protected] --services gmail --gmail-scope send' allows sending only, and '--gmail-scope read-send' adds reading without mailbox-modification or settings-management permissions.
What is 'gog mcp'?
A typed stdio MCP server generated from the same command tree, so AI agents can drive Google Workspace through it without a generic shell. It is read-only by default; writes require explicit command and tool authorization.
