Repository Structure

This repository holds the content behind the roadmaps on roadmap.sh.

roadmaps/<roadmap-slug>/content/<topic-slug>@<node-id>.md

Each markdown file is the content of a single topic on a roadmap. The node id in the file name is what links it to the topic, so please keep file names intact. Merged changes are synced to the website automatically.

git clone [email protected]:nilbuild/developer-roadmap.git --depth 1
cd developer-roadmap

scripts/ holds the sync tooling used by the maintainers, see scripts/readme.md for details.

What is this?Community-driven roadmaps, guides and resources that show developers what to learn next and in what order — from frontend and backend to AI, DevOps and dozens of other paths.
Is this an app I run, or a website?Neither — it is the content behind the roadmap.sh website. Each markdown file here is a single topic of a roadmap, and merged changes are synced to the site automatically.
The list of paths is huge — where should I even start? The README points newcomers to a get started page that helps you pick up a path, and Frontend, Backend and DevOps each have a dedicated Beginner version.
I'm not a web developer — is there anything here for me?Yes — the catalog goes far beyond frontend and backend: there are roadmaps for AI engineers, data analysts, security, game developers, product managers and more.
Can I reuse the roadmaps in my own course or blog? The README just points to the license file for details, and GitHub reports it as NOASSERTION — a custom license, so check its terms before republishing the content.
What does it mean that the roadmaps are interactive? Each roadmap is a visual chart of topics, and the nodes are clickable: you click a node to read more about that topic, with the text maintained as markdown files in this repo.
Is it only roadmaps, or is there other stuff too?Besides the roadmaps there are interactive best practices — backend and frontend performance, code review, API security, AWS — plus question collections to test your knowledge in JavaScript, Node.js, React, backend and frontend.
Do the roadmaps keep up with the industry? The README says more roadmaps are actively being worked upon, and the current list already covers newer ground like AI Agents, Prompt Engineering, Claude Code and Vibe Coding.
Why do the markdown files have those strange names with numbers? The node id in the file name is what links the file to its topic on the roadmap chart, so filenames must be kept intact — that is how edits find their place on the site.
