What is this?
A Markdown archive of kkndme's famous Tianya forum thread on China's 2010 housing-price controls — a condensed edition kept in the original thread's chronological order, which also preserves the best replies from other users.
Is this a program I install, or something I just read?
Nothing to install or run — the whole project is one Markdown README you read like a long article. There is no code, app or build step; the repo exists purely to preserve the text.
Who is it for, and why read a thread from 2010 today?
Anyone curious about China's housing market. The thread was written right before prices soared and is treated as near-prophetic, so people now read it as a case study in reading policy, money supply and scarcity.
Who was kkndme and why does this thread have such a following?
kkndme was a Tianya forum user whose 2010 thread analyzed housing policy before prices exploded; the archive has close to 20,000 GitHub stars because its calls on prices, taxes and inflation largely played out over the following decade.
Does it ever expect a crash?
It admits one is theoretically possible but says under the dual-track system you won't live to see it, because state interests keep prices supported. That conviction is exactly why it keeps pushing readers to buy sooner rather than later.
