What is this?
A free, community-maintained Simplified Chinese tutorial for IntelliJ IDEA — a series of short chapters that take you from first install to advanced IDE skills. On GitHub since 2015, with 22k+ stars.
Is it a book, a video course, or what exactly?
Written chapters with animated GIF screenshots, read on GitHub or via the online GitBook edition the author recommends. Video is the exception — for example a 16-minute MP4 on Git/GitHub basics.
Where should I start with it?
Read the GitBook edition in your browser — the author strongly recommends it — starting with the chapters marked must-read for new users: intro, installation, first-run wizard, basic settings.
Does everything display fine on GitHub, or are there gotchas?
Images can fail to load on GitHub in some regions because resource links are blocked there — hence the GitBook recommendation. Some GIFs also run too fast; the author suggests the 7GIF player for pausing them.
I don't read Chinese — is it still worth my time?
Probably not — it is written for Chinese users, and the author says outright that if your English is good you are better off reading JetBrains' official help documentation.
Which IDEs and versions does the tutorial cover?
IntelliJ IDEA from version 14 through 2023, plus WebStorm, PhpStorm, PyCharm, RubyMine and DataGrip (2016-2023), GoLand and CLion (2017-2023), and any version of Android Studio.
Should I switch my IDE to the Chinese language pack?
The official pack arrived in July 2021. The author's take: it genuinely lowers the entry barrier for beginners, but he does not recommend keeping it long-term because it mixes you up when reading the official English docs — switch back to English later.
What will I learn beyond the basics?
Working-level material: Win/Linux and Mac shortcut guides, Maven setup, SVN and Git version control, live templates, Postfix Completion and Emmet, debugging and refactoring techniques, database tools, remote debugging for Tomcat and Jetty, and plugin development.
Is the tutorial still kept current?
Yes — the README's version lists run through the 2023 releases of the JetBrains IDEs, and the author adds dated update notes to the intro section.
