Introduction

Reactotron is a powerful debugger for React and React Native applications. It provides an easy-to-use interface for developers to monitor their application's state, network requests, and performance metrics and can be used for any size of project, from small personal apps to large-scale enterprise applications. The OG debugger at Infinite Red that we use on a day-to-day basis to build client apps. Additionally, Reactotron is completely open source and free to use, making it an invaluable tool for developers at all levels of experience.

We recommend that you watch Darin Wilson's talk at Chain React: Chain React 2018: Debugging and Beyond with Reactotron!

Searching Database…

What is this?Reactotron is a free, open-source desktop debugger for React JS and React Native apps. It gives you a visual interface to monitor app state, network requests, and performance in projects of any size.
Is this a desktop app, or a library I add to my code? Both halves of one tool: a desktop app plus a client library you plug into your project as a dev dependency. The library streams your app's state and activity to the desktop app, and production builds stay untouched.
How do I get it running?Download the reactotron-app installer from the GitHub Releases page, then follow the React or React Native setup guide to wire the matching client library into your app.
Do all features work the same for React and React Native? No — several integrations are React Native only: the image overlay, Async Storage tracking, MMKV support, and Storybook switching. Core state, networking, and benchmark tooling works for both.
Is it meant for big production projects or just side experiments?Any size of project — the README ranges from small personal apps to large-scale enterprise applications, and Infinite Red uses it day-to-day on client work.
Which platforms does the desktop app support? It ships for macOS (x64 and arm64/Apple Silicon), Linux (32-bit and 64-bit), and Windows (32-bit and 64-bit).
What can I actually do with it once it's connected?View and subscribe to your application state, inspect API requests and responses, run quick performance benchmarks, display console.log-style messages, and track global errors with source-mapped stack traces.
Does it play nice with Redux?Yes — there's a Redux plugin, you can dispatch actions right from the app, and you can hot swap your app's state using Redux or mobx-state-tree. Redux-saga users also get saga stack traces on errors.
Who makes it, and is it really free?Infinite Red maintains it with 70+ contributors. It's MIT-licensed and, per the README, free to use and always will be — the company sells premium React and React Native development services separately.
