What is this?RegExr is an online tool for learning, building, and testing Regular Expressions, with results updating in real time as you type.
Is it a website I open in the browser, or something I install? It's a browser-based HTML/JS web app at RegExr.com — nothing to install. This repo holds the site's source, which developers can build and run locally.
How do I build and run it from this repo?Install Node and Gulp, run 'npm install' for the other dependencies, then run 'gulp' — the default task does a dev build and starts a test server.
Can I reuse its code in my own project? The source is licensed under GPL v3; for other terms the author asks you to get in touch.
Should I ask my regex questions on the RegExr GitHub repo?No — GitHub issues there are for bugs and feature requests only. For regular expression questions, the README directs you to Stack Overflow instead.
What do the Tools do?They let you explore your results in more depth — the README describes them simply as a way to dig into what your expression matched.
Can I fix mistakes while composing a pattern?Yes — the editors support Undo and Redo with cmd-Z and cmd-Y.
