Scandinavian Design

A Cursor agent skill for applying a restrained Scandinavian visual system to a codebase: black-and-white foundation, sans-serif type, generous spacing, and purposeful product imagery.

Scandinavian design showcase

Ten sites, before rewritten into after.

Install

Install with npx skills add ericzakariasson/scandinavian-design.

The skill is skills/scandinavian-design/. Nothing else in this repo is needed.

git clone https://github.com/ericzakariasson/scandinavian-design
cd scandinavian-design
cp -r skills/scandinavian-design ~/.cursor/skills/
npm --prefix ~/.cursor/skills/scandinavian-design/scripts install

Then invoke /scandinavian-design on the surface you want redesigned.

Eval

demos/ holds ten live sites restyled through the CSS-override fallback, with before/after captures at desktop and mobile — the set the skill was tested and corrected against. Browse them at scandinavian-design.vercel.app or locally:

npm install && npm run eval # re-capture everything
npm run site # viewer on :4173
npm run showcase # Remotion studio — before/after scan rewrite
npm run showcase:render # write showcase.mp4 for the landing page

feedback.md records what each demo taught the skill, including the claims that were checked and rejected.

Searching Database…

What is this? It's a Cursor agent skill that restyles a codebase into a restrained Scandinavian design: black-and-white color, sans-serif type, generous spacing, and purposeful product imagery.
Is this a general design tool or specific to Cursor? It's built specifically as a Cursor agent skill, not a standalone app. It's installed with the 'skills' CLI and then triggered inside Cursor as a slash command.
How do I install and run it?Run npx skills add ericzakariasson/scandinavian-design, which places the skill at skills/scandinavian-design/. Then invoke /scandinavian-design on whatever surface you want redesigned.
Do I need anything beyond Cursor to use it?Just Cursor and the npx-based 'skills' installer; nothing else in the repo is needed to use the skill itself. The repo's playwright-core dependency is only used by the internal eval/demo scripts.
Does it always rewrite the code directly, or sometimes fall back? The ten demo sites were restyled using a CSS-override fallback rather than always rewriting markup directly, meaning the skill can fall back to CSS overrides on some surfaces instead of full code edits.
What does the Scandinavian style actually look like?It leans on a black-and-white foundation, sans-serif typography, generous spacing, and purposeful product imagery rather than decorative visuals.
Can I see what it does before trying it on my own project?Yes, the demos/ folder shows ten live sites restyled with before/after captures at desktop and mobile, browsable at scandinavian-design.vercel.app or locally.
How was the skill's design judgment refined?feedback.md documents what each of the ten demo sites taught the skill, including design claims that were tested and rejected along the way.
