What is this?DevHub is an open-source app for managing GitHub notifications and following repository activity, described as TweetDeck for GitHub. You get columns of filtered feeds so you don't miss anything important.
Do I install it, or does it run in the browser? Both. There is a web app at devhubapp.com, native Android and iOS apps, and a desktop app for macOS, Windows and Linux — with 95%+ of the code shared between them via React Native and React Native Web.
How do I get it on my devices?Web: open devhubapp.com. Desktop: download from GitHub Releases or install via Homebrew on macOS. Mobile: Play Store for Android, App Store for iOS. Then sign in with your GitHub account.
Do I need anything besides a GitHub account? No — the app pulls your notifications and activity through the GitHub API, so an account is all it takes. Contributing to the source is different: it's a Yarn workspaces monorepo built on React and React Native.
Which features are still on the wishlist rather than shipped?Issues/PR management, a Trending column, push notifications for filtered columns, drag & drop column moving and GitHub Enterprise support are all listed under next features, with links to vote on them.
What can I do with the columns? Each column is a feed with its own filters, and you can save custom searches as columns. Marking a column as done gives you an Inbox Zero feeling, and any activity or notification can be saved for later.
How is this different from just watching repos on GitHub?The repository watcher keeps you up to date with a repository's activity without using GitHub's watch feature, so your GitHub notifications stay uncluttered while DevHub still shows you everything.
Can I follow a person instead of a repository?Yes — user stalking follows a user's activity, including things GitHub doesn't show on your feed, like their issue comments and pushed commits. There is also a dashboard for discovering interesting repositories.
Can I drive it from the keyboard, and does it have dark mode?Yes to both. Everything can be done from the keyboard — press Shift+? in the web or desktop app to see all shortcuts — and there are 6 light and dark themes with automatic system preference detection.
