javranking-extension (aizhimou/javranking-extension)
Searching Database…
What is this?
A browser extension that reads the JAV video code on the page you're currently viewing — only after you click its toolbar icon — and shows matching cover art and JavRanking leaderboard info for that title.
Does it work in Firefox, or only Chrome and Edge?
It's built and distributed for Chromium browsers (Chrome, Edge) via a downloadable ZIP. Firefox only supports loading it temporarily for development; a persistent install would need a Mozilla-signed XPI, which isn't available yet.
Do updates happen automatically?
No — since it's loaded as an unpacked extension, you have to manually download the new version, unzip it, and click Reload on the extension card (or load the new folder). The extension does show a banner in its UI when a newer GitHub release exists.
Does it read or send my browsing data?
It only reads the current top-level page content, and only when you actively click to trigger it. It does not transmit or store the page URL, page text, DOM content, candidate codes, or your browsing activity.
How does it actually match a code to ranking data?
It reads a static search index that JavRanking publishes, and it also checks GitHub's public API for the latest release version each time you open the extension UI — neither request includes any page or user data.
Can I verify a downloaded build matches the public source?
Yes — you can check out the release tag, build it yourself, and compare the checksum of your output against the SHA256SUMS.txt file included in each GitHub Release.
