TablePro database client with SQL editor and data grid

About

TablePro is what I wanted TablePlus to be: native, fast, open source.

Built with native frameworks on every platform. No Electron, no JDBC, no JavaScript runtime. Cold start under 1 second, idle around 80 MB RAM. Connects to all major SQL and NoSQL databases through native drivers.

AI is built in: chat, inline suggestions, and an MCP server that lets Cursor, Raycast, or Claude Desktop talk to your databases. Bring your own API key, pick your own provider, or run local with Ollama.

Why TablePro

Native macOS database clients today fall into three groups:

TablePro is the missing fourth: native, multi-database, and open source.

What's inside

Install

brew install --cask tablepro

Or download from GitHub Releases.

How to Build

Building TablePro requires macOS 14 or later, Xcode 26 or later, and XcodeGen.

Run the first-time setup from the repository root:

brew install xcodegen
scripts/download-libs.sh
scripts/generate-project.sh

TablePro.xcodeproj is generated from project.yml and is not in git. Re-run scripts/generate-project.sh after changing project.yml or Configs/, or after adding a source file.

Build a Debug app without code signing:

xcodebuild \
  -project TablePro.xcodeproj \
  -scheme TablePro \
  -configuration Debug \
  -skipPackagePluginValidation \
  CODE_SIGNING_ALLOWED=NO \
  build

The app is written to ~/Library/Developer/Xcode/DerivedData/TablePro-*/Build/Products/Debug/TablePro.app.

To build and run a signed app, put your Apple team and a unique bundle identifier in Configs/Secrets.xcconfig. See Building with a personal Apple team.

Support development

The app is free under AGPLv3. If you use TablePro at work, please buy a license. Every purchase funds the next release. If you can't afford one, just use the free version. That's why it's free.

Searching Database…

What is this?TablePro is a free, open-source native database client for macOS and iOS, built as the native alternative to TablePlus that the author wanted.
Is this a native app or another Electron-based tool?It is fully native on every platform, with no Electron, JDBC, or JavaScript runtime involved, which gives it a cold start under 1 second and about 80MB idle RAM usage.
How do I install TablePro?Download a prebuilt copy from GitHub Releases, or build it yourself by running the first-time setup script from the repo root with Xcode.
Does it run on Windows or Linux? No, Windows isn't supported at all, and Linux is only a prototype with nothing installable yet — only macOS 14+ and iOS/iPadOS 18+ are marked stable.
Which databases does it actually connect to?MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL, Redshift, CockroachDB, SQLite, ClickHouse, and Redis ship built-in; MongoDB, SQL Server, Oracle, DuckDB, Cassandra/ScyllaDB, Etcd, Cloudflare D1, DynamoDB, BigQuery and more install on demand as plugins.
Is it really free to use at work?Yes, it is fully free under AGPLv3; the project simply asks (without requiring) that companies using it at work buy a license to fund future releases.
What AI features does TablePro include? It has built-in AI chat, inline SQL suggestions, and Explain/Optimize, plus an MCP server so Cursor, Raycast, or Claude Desktop can talk to your databases directly. You bring your own API key, pick a provider, or run local models with Ollama.
Can I write my own database driver for it?Yes, TablePro has a plugin system that lets you write custom database drivers in Swift, which is also how less common engines like Oracle or Cassandra are added.
How is TablePro different from Sequel Ace or DBeaver?Unlike single-database tools like Sequel Ace or Postico, TablePro works with many databases; unlike DBeaver (JVM) or Beekeeper Studio (Electron), it stays fully native and lightweight.
Does it sync my connections across devices?Yes, it uses iCloud sync to keep connections, groups, tags, settings, and SSH profiles in sync across your Mac and iOS devices.
What are similar projects?beekeeper-studio, dbx, tabularis, tusk, Chat2DB, navop, sqlit, GoNavi
