Public MCP, Navop CLI, and Agent Skill

Navop can expose selected host-authoritative tools to external Codex, Claude, MCP clients, and automation. Enable the server under Settings > General > MCP > MCP Server, choose a permission profile (Safe / Confirm / Auto), and select the required groups under Tool Exposure. The runtime listens on a dynamic loopback-only port and authenticates clients with a user-only discovery token; Navop remains authoritative for live tools, schemas, permissions, approvals, and audit records.

For terminal-capable agents, install the @navop/cli package and the bundled Navop Skill:

npm install -g @navop/cli@latest

# Install the Skill for Codex, or use --target agents for Agents-compatible clients
navop skill install --target codex --scope user

The separate @navop/mcp package is only the stdio bridge for native MCP clients (npx -y @navop/mcp@latest). See the Navop MCP and CLI repository and the Public MCP guide for the full command reference and client configuration.

Install

Download the latest build from GitHub Releases. Each release includes sha256sums.txt for checksum verification. Artifacts are available for macOS (DMG and tar.gz, Apple Silicon / Intel), Windows (MSI and EXE installers, plus standard and portable ZIP), and Linux (tar.gz, deb, rpm, and AppImage), following the navop-<version>-<platform>-<arch>.<ext> naming convention.

If macOS Gatekeeper reports that Apple cannot check the app, run sudo xattr -rd com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Navop.app.

On Windows, Navop is also available through Scoop (installing the portable edition with data persistence handled by Scoop):

scoop bucket add extras
scoop install navop

Navop is also available from FlatPark as a community Flatpak package:

flatpak --user remote-add --if-not-exists flatpark https://dl.flatpark.org/flatpark.flatpakrepo
flatpak --user install flatpark dev.navop.Navop

For the full artifact table, Windows portable-mode notes, upgrade migration from v0.10.1 or earlier ZIPs, and the Oracle Instant Client / pure-Go driver note, see the Install & update guide.

Build from source

Navop uses the Rust 2024 edition and requires platform-specific system dependencies.

# Linux dependencies
./script/bootstrap

# Run the application
cargo run -p main

On Windows, install dependencies from PowerShell with:

.\script\install-window.ps1

Common development checks:

cargo build
cargo test --all
cargo clippy --workspace --all-targets
cargo fmt --check

See CONTRIBUTING.md for the complete development guide.

Community and support

Navop is maintained independently. Stars, focused pull requests, and bug reports all help sustain the project.

What is this?Navop is a native, all-in-one desktop workspace that combines database tools, SSH/terminal, remote desktop, file transfer, monitoring, notes, and AI agent integration in a single app.
Is this a single tool or a full workspace combining many tools? It's a unified native desktop workspace built with GPUI (Rust) that merges a database client, SSH/terminal, remote desktop viewer, file transfer, monitoring, and an AI agent hub into one app instead of using separate tools.
How do I install Navop?Download the latest build from GitHub Releases: DMG/tar.gz for macOS, MSI/EXE or portable ZIP for Windows, and tar.gz/deb/rpm/AppImage for Linux. Windows users can also install it via Scoop, and Linux users via a Flatpak package.
What do I need to connect AI agents like Claude Code or Codex?Navop connects external agents through ACP for Codex, Claude Code, and OpenCode, and can expose its own tools to those clients via a built-in MCP server (Settings > General > MCP) or the separate @navop/mcp stdio bridge package.
Can I resell or charge for Navop? No. The Navop Supplementary License allows free redistribution through channels like GitHub Releases, Flatpak, and free app stores, but explicitly prohibits commercial resale, charging fees, competing products or services, and paid distribution platforms.
Is my connection and credential data kept private?Personal connections, credentials, and settings are synced across your own devices using end-to-end encryption rather than being sent to a third-party server.
What databases does Navop support out of the box?MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQLite, DuckDB, SQL Server, Oracle, ClickHouse, Redis, and MongoDB are built in, with extras like TDengine, Dameng, KingbaseES, openGauss, and Apache IoTDB available as installable extension drivers.
What is the Agent Hub?It's a workspace view that keeps a terminal agent, project files, Git branches, changes, and side-by-side diffs together so you can supervise AI coding agents in context.
Can I use native RDP on Windows?Yes — on Windows Navop embeds the Microsoft RDP ActiveX control via a native C++ host (usable in-tab, fullscreen, or by launching mstsc.exe), while a cross-platform pure-Rust IronRDP backend renders RDP sessions on other platforms.
What interface languages are supported?English, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese.
Which topics is it in?serial, port-forwarding, mermaid, oracle, ftp, gpui, rdp, mssql, acp, duckdb, vnc, mqtt
