PDoomVideo README

The project's README from github.com/JohnHeibel/PDoomVideo. As one markdown file: README.md.

I'm Upping My P(doom)

Source code for the Claude Opus 5.5 music video for I'm Upping My P(doom).

I've also made a new more reliable and general base for making Claude animations with Claude Opus 5.5.

Highly recommend checking it out!

How it was made

The video took two generations, both in Claude Code:

  1. First generation (legacy/): Claude Opus 5.5 (Medium)
  2. Second generation (everything else): Claude Opus 5.5

Everything in this repository was generated by the model. No scene ideas were specified. The only direction was to:

ANIMATION_GUIDE.md was written by Opus to brief the subagents it ran in parallel.

STORYBOARD.md was also written by Opus after the first generation, after being instructed to use P5 brushstrokes, make each scene visually interesting, and make every scene transition into the next.

What's here

Path What it is
src/ch/ The video's nine chapters, one file each
src/ Shared code: Clawd, the guest characters, props, lyrics and the timeline
studio.html The page every frame is painted in, using p5.js and p5.brush
render.mjs Renders frames in headless Chrome and encodes the MP4 with ffmpeg
STORYBOARD.md Opus's shot-by-shot plan
ANIMATION_GUIDE.md Opus's style and code guide for its subagents
legacy/ The first generation

Rendering

You need Node.js, Google Chrome and ffmpeg. The song is included at assets/pdoom.mp3.

npm install
node render.mjs --frames=0:156.6 --workers=4 # paint every frame into out/frames (resumable)
node render.mjs --encode --out=out/pdoom.mp4 # join the frames and the song into an MP4

If Chrome isn't installed at the default Windows path, add --chrome=<path to chrome>.

Searching Database…

What is this? The source code behind 'I'm Upping My P(doom)', a music video generated entirely by Claude Opus 5.5 in Claude Code — every scene, character and transition came from the model, not a human animator.
So is this a finished video file I can download, or something else? It's the code that draws the video: p5.js scenes painted frame by frame in a browser page (studio.html), plus render.mjs, which renders those frames in headless Chrome and encodes them into the MP4 with ffmpeg.
How do I render the video myself?Install Node.js, Google Chrome and ffmpeg, then run the render.mjs script — it shoots the frames in headless Chrome and encodes the MP4. The song is already included at assets/pdoom.mp3.
Any gotchas when I try to render it?The script expects Chrome at the default Windows install path; if yours lives elsewhere, pass the location via --chrome=. Otherwise you just need all three tools present.
How did an AI model end up making a whole music video? Two Claude Code generations: the first pass (kept in legacy/) used Claude Opus 5.5 Medium, and everything else came from a second generation with Claude Opus 5.5. No scene ideas were specified — the only direction was to use the Clawd character design and give each lyric interesting visuals and transitions.
Did a human write any of the animation code or plan the shots? No — everything in the repository was generated by the model. Opus even wrote STORYBOARD.md (its shot-by-shot plan) and ANIMATIONGUIDE.md, the style guide it used to brief the subagents it ran in parallel.
What's inside the repo if I want to poke around?Nine chapter files under src/ch/ (one per chapter of the video), shared code in src/ (Clawd, guest characters, props, lyrics and the timeline), studio.html where every frame is painted with p5.js and p5.brush, the two Opus-written planning docs, and legacy/ with the first generation.
Can I reuse this setup for my own AI-made animations? This repo is the one-off source for this specific video, but the author has since built a newer, more reliable and general base for making Claude animations with Claude Opus 5.5 and recommends using that instead.
