🚀 One-Click Solution

Global Users

macOS

curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/yuaotian/go-cursor-help/refs/heads/master/scripts/run/cursor_mac_id_modifier.sh -o ./cursor_mac_id_modifier.sh && sudo bash ./cursor_mac_id_modifier.sh && rm ./cursor_mac_id_modifier.sh

Linux

curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/yuaotian/go-cursor-help/refs/heads/master/scripts/run/cursor_linux_id_modifier.sh | sudo bash

Note for Linux users: The script attempts to find your Cursor installation by checking common paths (/usr/bin, /usr/local/bin, $HOME/.local/bin, /opt/cursor, /snap/bin), using the which cursor command, and searching within /usr, /opt, and $HOME/.local. If Cursor is installed elsewhere or not found via these methods, the script may fail. Ensure Cursor is accessible via one of these standard locations or methods.

Windows

Tip (Windows): If you suspect a cached old script (mirror/proxy cache), append a timestamp query parameter to bypass cache:

Searching Database…

What is this?A command-line tool that resets Cursor's free trial when the editor blocks you with 'suspicious activity' or trial-limit messages, by making Cursor treat your machine as a brand-new device.
Is this an extension inside Cursor, or a separate program? It's a separate program, not a plugin: a script or prebuilt binary you run from a terminal, which edits Cursor's own storage.json config file.
How do I run it?Open an administrator terminal and run the one-click script for your OS from the README: it installs the tool and resets the trial immediately. Prebuilt binaries for each OS and CPU are also available in GitHub Releases.
Do I need PowerShell or admin rights first?Windows wants an elevated terminal: the script prefers PowerShell 7 (installable via Winget) but falls back to built-in Windows PowerShell. On macOS and Linux a regular terminal is enough.
Will it work with my version of Cursor? It targets current Cursor 2.x.x releases on Windows, macOS and Linux, and the README tells you to check your Cursor version before running it. Older versions aren't listed as supported.
Does it touch anything outside Cursor on my machine? On Windows it also rewrites the MachineGuid registry key that Windows uses to identify your device, though the original value is backed up automatically before modification. Administrator rights are required for that step.
What exactly does it change to reset the trial? It writes fresh unique values into Cursor's storage.json for telemetry.machineId, telemetry.macMachineId, telemetry.devDeviceId and telemetry.sqmId, so Cursor counts the machine as a new device with a fresh trial.
The README also sells Cursor memberships and Codex API packages. Is that part of the tool? No, those are the author's separate paid offers sold through Telegram. The reset tool itself is free and MIT-licensed.
What if my Cursor is installed somewhere non-standard on Linux? The script only searches common locations (/usr/bin, /usr/local/bin, $HOME/.local/bin, /opt/cursor, /snap/bin) and the which cursor command, so custom installs can fail; keep Cursor reachable via a standard path.
Why does the README explain how to disable Cursor's auto-update?It's an optional manual step so an update can't undo the reset: close Cursor, delete the cursor-updater folder in local AppData and replace it with an empty file of the same name. macOS and Linux users can try the same with their cursor-updater directory.
