What is this?
Simple Live is a cross-platform Flutter app for watching Chinese livestreaming platforms (Huya, Douyu, Bilibili Live, Douyin) with danmaku (chat overlay) support, built for simple, no-frills viewing.
Is this just one app, or is there a reusable library behind it?
The repo is split into simplelivecore (a core library that fetches stream info and danmaku from each platform), simpleliveconsole (a console client built on it), simpleliveapp (the Flutter phone/desktop client), and simplelivetvapp (the Android TV client).
How do I get this running?
Clone the repository and build it yourself with Flutter; the project explicitly does not ship a pre-built release package.
What do I need installed before building it?
You need the Flutter SDK at the version specified in the README (3.38) plus the normal platform toolchains for whichever target (Android, iOS, Windows, macOS, Linux) you're building.
Are all the supported platforms equally ready to use?
Android and iOS are the main targets; Windows, macOS, Linux desktop builds and the Android TV client are all marked BETA, and you have to compile everything yourself since no installer is provided.
Which devices can I actually use this on?
It targets Android phones, iPhones, Android TV, and desktop (Windows, macOS, Linux), though desktop and TV builds are still BETA.
Which streaming platforms does it support?
Out of the box it supports Huya, Douyu, Bilibili Live, and Douyin livestreams.
Does it show danmaku (live chat overlay) on the stream?
Yes, the core library parses and renders each platform's danmaku comments alongside the video.
Is this built by reverse-engineering the streaming platforms?
The author states it only uses publicly available information with no cracking or reverse engineering, and that the project is for learning purposes only, not commercial use.
Why isn't there a ready-made installer?
The README explicitly says no release package is provided — you're expected to build and test the app yourself from source.
