What is this?ProxyPin is a free, open source tool for capturing HTTP(S) traffic: it intercepts, inspects and rewrites requests and responses, and it can even capture traffic from Flutter apps. Think of it as an open alternative to Charles or Fiddler.
Is this a desktop app or a mobile app? Both — it ships as a native GUI app on desktop and mobile, and the devices interconnect: any client can scan a QR code to connect and forward traffic to the others, with the proxy configuration synced automatically.
How do I get the app?Desktop builds are downloaded from GitHub Releases; on mobile, ProxyPin is available on the iOS App Store and Android Google Play. The README also links a Telegram channel for updates.
Will macOS let me open it right away? Not on the first launch: Gatekeeper flags the app as from an untrusted developer, so you have to allow apps from any source under System Preferences - Security & Privacy before it opens.
Do I need to be a developer to use it?It targets people who debug network traffic — API and app developers mostly, the same crowd that uses Charles or Fiddler, which the project lists among its related topics. The GUI and scan-to-connect setup keep the entry bar low.
Does it work on my phone as well as my computer?Yes — it covers the full platform range: native apps for Windows, Mac and Linux on the desktop side, plus Android and iOS on mobile, all built from one Flutter codebase.
Can I edit requests or fake server responses?Yes. You can redirect or rewrite requests, replace request or response bodies, block requests by URL, and use request mapping to answer from a local config or script without ever calling the real server. JavaScript scripts and automatic AES body decryption are built in too.
How do I keep the request list from becoming noise?Domain filtering limits capture to the traffic you actually need, leaving other apps undisturbed, and you can search requests by keyword, response type and other conditions.
What happens to my captures when I close the app?Captured traffic is saved automatically into history, so you can backtrack and review past sessions later, and you can export or import captures in HAR format.
Is it really free, and how is the project supported?Yes — it is free and open source under the Apache-2.0 license, with over 14,000 GitHub stars. Development is funded by optional donations through Buy Me A Coffee and AFDIAN.
