What is this?
EasyWeChat is an open-source PHP SDK for WeChat development, maintained by WeEngine (微擎), an open-source SaaS platform provider.
Is it a hosted service, or something I add to my own codebase?
It is a library: you install it into your own PHP project with Composer and call WeChat's APIs from your server-side code — there is nothing to deploy on its own.
What does my server need before installing?
PHP 8.0.2 or newer and Composer 2.0 or newer — that is the entire environment requirement the README lists.
Is the SDK enough on its own, or do I need my own WeChat credentials?
The SDK only wraps WeChat's APIs — it does nothing without your own WeChat-side app and its credentials. The README's basic example is a server-side Official Account (公众号) integration, which presumes you have an account to connect to.
Do I need to be a PHP developer to use it?
Yes — it lives inside a PHP 8+ codebase, so it is aimed at developers building server-side WeChat features in PHP.
What is WeEngine (微擎)?
WeEngine is an open-source SaaS platform provider, and EasyWeChat is one of the open-source products it maintains. The project has been on GitHub since 2015 and is MIT-licensed.
Can I use it in a commercial project?
Yes. EasyWeChat is MIT-licensed, so commercial use, modification and redistribution are permitted as long as the license notice is kept.
What does a first working example look like?
The README walks through a basic server-side example for a WeChat Official Account (公众号服务端) — the typical starting point — and links to the official site, community discussions and its update policy for everything else.
