What is this?
Vuetify is a UI library of handcrafted Vue components built on Material Design — you assemble your app's interface from ready-made, responsive parts instead of styling everything yourself.
Is it a standalone app or something I add to my own project?
Something you add: an npm component framework for Vue apps, with a large component API, theming and automatic tree-shaking for Vite builds — not an app you run on its own.
How do I start a project with it?
Scaffold a new project with your package manager: pnpm create vuetify, yarn create vuetify, npm create vuetify@latest or bun create vuetify. Nuxt and Laravel setups are covered in the official installation guide.
What does my project need before adding it?
A Vue project — the scaffolder creates one for you. Official guides cover plain Vite apps plus Nuxt and Laravel, and the ecosystem adds an ESLint config and vuetify-loader compiler plugins for the build toolchain.
Any browser or version constraints I should know about?
It targets modern browsers — Safari 13+ needs polyfills — and components are designed for a minimum width of 320px. Also, Vuetify 2 is end-of-life and unsupported, even for security issues.
How long will my version keep getting updates?
Every major release gets at least 6 months of long-term support. The Vuetify 2 line is already EOL; commercial support for it is available from a partner.
What comes in the ecosystem besides the components themselves?
A browser Playground for trying components, pre-built Snips, a Vuetify Bin pastebin, an ESLint config plus an upgrade plugin, vuetify-loader compiler plugins for autoloading components, an MCP server for coding agents, and an Awesome list of community projects.
Does it handle multiple languages out of the box?
Yes — internationalization with 42+ supported languages is built in, and translations are managed through Crowdin, with upload automation running in this repo.
Can I try components without installing anything?
Yes — the Vuetify Playground at play.vuetifyjs.com is an in-browser REPL built on vuejs/repl, and the Snips site offers copy-paste snippets for individual components.
