Fix stale Part prompts after Apply JSON in the standard and Reference13 UIs. Valid JSON replaces old part/size drafts, including unchanged JSON; invalid JSON keeps your input. Existing UI, node IDs, saved states and workflows are unchanged. Release notes.
This frontend fix takes effect after a browser reload (Ctrl+F5); no ComfyUI restart or workflow rewiring is required.
Create character sheets with native MiniMax H3 reference-image conditioning. The current Reference 13 Views node supports one character image plus three optional references with individual roles: same character, face, head, outfit, outfit front/back, hands or footwear. Select each role in Part prompts. Roles guide the model through text and do not guarantee perfect separation. Existing workflows default to same-character references. The four previous node IDs remain included, so existing workflows can continue to use their original nodes.
Dedicated Reference13 roles now agree with retention instructions while preserving unrelated features. V1.1 Batch Out previews validate each actual output. Reference13 DOM regressions cover save drafts, restore and lifecycle. See v1.2.1 notes.
専用参照と保持指示の整合、およびBatch Out一覧プレビューの上限判定を修正しました。既存ワークフローと保存形式は維持します。

fixed for comparisons, or randomize for variations. The template generates five frames and saves the first decoded frame as the static sheet. The saved template includes an empty Power Lora Loader (rgthree) and therefore requires rgthree-comfy to open unchanged. No LoRA is selected or required for this character-sheet method. This node pack itself adds no Python runtime dependency. The template's model filenames are examples; reselect files installed on your machine.
In Reference 13 Views → Part prompts, select a role for each of the three extra references: Same character, Face only, Head / face / hair, Complete outfit, Front of outfit, Back of outfit, Hands, or Footwear.
For example, connect the character to character_image, a face reference to reference_image_1, and an outfit reference to reference_image_2. Select Face only for extra reference 1 and Complete outfit for extra reference 2. Keep the image-output connections shown below; unused inputs can remain disconnected. Role choices are saved in the workflow. Existing workflows keep the same-character behavior until you change a role.
The node writes role-specific instructions into the prompt; it does not isolate image regions or guarantee exact identity/outfit transfer. Explicit part instructions and appearance choices take priority over dedicated references. For conflicting references with the same role, the later connected reference takes priority.
Update through ComfyUI Manager, or open ComfyUI/custom_nodes/H3-Character-Sheet-Designer in a terminal and run git pull. Restart ComfyUI and reload the browser page afterward. These changes are available on the latest main branch.

Compatibility means the original node IDs and contracts remain available. It does not mean that all node variants are interchangeable without rewiring, or that generated pixels remain identical after changing node variants. Reference13 can read schema 1/2 states; its schema 3 and Multi Reference's schema 3 are different formats. V1.1 has five list outputs, whereas Reference13 has eight single-value outputs. Use each variant with its own workflow.
The release checks cover deterministic compilation, state compatibility, image pass-through, OFF bypass, geometry, workflow wiring and frontend tests. User-supplied fixed-seed Layout-OFF generations were reviewed separately. Basic/head presets remained stable in that comparison, but clothing details could become full-body views or omit the neckline; all-13 layouts could omit or rearrange details. This is not a general visual-quality or success-rate guarantee. Unseen appearance is inferred by the model. See the release verification for the local results.
For the previous Reference node, use Use Layout Image = OFF as the starting point.
OFF uses the character reference and an optimized prompt based on the original
Designer, preserving its layout geometry. The layout output becomes None, so H3
automatically skips it while both image wires stay connected. ON supplies the
framed mannequin sheet when closer layout matching is needed; it can also pull
the result toward the mannequin's body proportions or leave mannequin parts.
The original three-output node remains available.
Create character sheets using MiniMax H3's built-in reference-image conditioning and prompt understanding. No character-sheet LoRA or extra custom generation-node pack is required. In the original official workflow linked below, this Designer is the only custom node; the remaining generation nodes are ComfyUI Core. The new four-image template also retains an empty rgthree Power Lora Loader. You still need a compatible ComfyUI build and the usual H3 diffusion model, text encoder, and video VAE.
The setup is simple: load the template, choose your reference image and models, select the views you want, and generate. To generate a single view, leave only that view selected in the Designer and queue it manually.

Load this GUI workflow in ComfyUI, then choose your reference image and installed models. See template setup below.
A standalone ComfyUI custom node for designing a multi-view character sheet and compiling a MiniMax H3 reference prompt plus output dimensions. The template is English; free-form part instructions are preserved in their original language.
state_json; Reference outputs prompt / width / height / layout_image, with layout_image=None when OFF; original node retains three outputsThe bundled low-poly, bald, gender-neutral GPT Image mannequin artwork is displayed locally in the interface, with a simple SVG fallback only if the bitmap cannot load. With Use Layout Image OFF, these mannequins are interface illustrations only. ON sends a rendered mannequin sheet as the second H3 reference. Coordinates in the prompt are semantic guidance, not hard image constraints. Identity, anatomy, unseen surfaces, clothing fidelity, exact geometry, and high-resolution generation quality are not guaranteed.
Clone this repository into your ComfyUI custom_nodes directory:
cd ComfyUI/custom_nodes
git clone https://github.com/ukr8b3g-cmyk/H3-Character-Sheet-Designer.git
Restart ComfyUI and refresh its browser page. Add H3 Character Sheet Designer Reference from the node menu, or load the official template. No pip install is required. Keep this repository as a custom-node folder; this is not a standalone image generator.
The official GUI workflow is the maintainer-provided character-sheet template, preserved as supplied. Download the JSON using the link above, then drag it onto the ComfyUI canvas or open it with ComfyUI's workflow loader. It is a GUI workflow, not API-format JSON.
MiniMaxH3ReferenceToVideo, SaveImageAdvanced, and subgraph support. If a node is missing, update ComfyUI and its frontend.krea2_00327_.webp filename is a placeholder; the image is not bundled.models/diffusion_models, models/text_encoders, and models/vae folders. The saved subgraph uses Dasiwa Hybrid V2 INT8, Qwen3-VL 32B NVFP4/AWQ, an INT8/ConvRot VAE, and Euler / simple / 20 steps. These are template choices, not a universal optimum. The Model Links note lists model files. Reselect the loaders for your filenames and platform; the saved diffusion-model name includes a Windows-style minimax\ subfolder.SaveImageAdvanced.The saved connections and state are checked by local tests. The current Reference OFF node has run on native H3 after restart; actual prompts and reference bypass were verified. Controlled GPU comparisons retained five views, but later-frame darkening and narrow foot margins remain. The template saves frame 0. See the test scope and limits; large sheets can require substantial VRAM and time.
Connect the Designer's prompt, width, and height outputs to the matching inputs on ComfyUI's native MiniMaxH3ReferenceToVideo node. Use Convert widget to input on the receiving node where necessary. Provide one character reference image separately, through Load Image, as the native node's first image reference (<Picture 1>). Use a compatible H3 Ref2VA model and your normal H3 model loading, sampling, decoding, and saving workflow.
Suggested experimental downstream settings are length=5 frames, not five seconds, and ref_image_size=match. The Designer does not modify those settings. To save a still, choose a decoded frame downstream. Even at five frames, H3 uses its audiovisual model generation path; this is not a promise of ordinary still-model memory or speed.
The Reference node starts with the standard five views. The original node's default Basic preset stays at the original four views and 2208 × 1280. The optional Left portrait is a head-to-chest anatomical-left profile. Detail now selects all seven views and produces 2816 × 1280 at the default panel height (1696 × 768 at 672). Existing saved six-view selections retain their geometry and display as Custom; they are never automatically expanded.
The final view cannot be deselected. Either portrait alone, both portraits, hands-only, feet-only, left-body-profile-only, and hands-plus-feet layouts are supported. A missing or invalid saved value remains visible as an error; it is never silently reset. A failed preview can be retried without losing the committed selection.
Experimental appears above 1,032,192 pixels. This is a warning, not an artificial H3 size cap. ComfyUI's runtime axis limit is still enforced. Large outputs may require substantial VRAM and time.
The eight parts are Head / hair, Face, Upper-body clothing, Back of clothing, Lower body, Hands / gloves, Feet / footwear, and Overall / other. The part dropdown is separate from the seven view selectors. There are no clothing presets, change modes, lettering switches, or separate text fields: describe shape, color, patterns, text, and placement in the same prompt.
English is recommended for part prompts, based on the reported successful result. Start with a short instruction in the matching part field. If an attribute is ignored, add only the missing detail and try again. These are copy-ready examples, not inserted defaults or guaranteed results.
| Part field | Example |
|---|---|
| Upper-body clothing | Change the jacket to silver-gray. Keep its design and material. |
| Hands / gloves | Bare hands with natural skin and short nails in every view. |
| Feet / footwear | Black high-heeled pumps, consistent in every view. |
| Lower body (upper-body-only reference) | Complete the unseen lower body with black tailored trousers. |
| Back of clothing (matching the jacket) | Keep the jacket silver-gray on the back as well. |
| Back of clothing (optional pattern) | Add a floral pattern only to the back of the jacket. |
Use the back examples separately or combine them only if both changes are wanted. For an upper-body-only reference, specify missing lower clothing and footwear in their respective fields. This supplies a design for unseen areas; it cannot recover details absent from the image.
If the short prompt is not enough, try a more specific version:
Change only the jacket color to silver-gray. Keep its shape, material, seams, and fasteners unchanged in every view.Show bare hands with natural skin and short nails in every view. No gloves, hand coverings, or glove-like cuffs.Add detail when needed rather than starting with a long list of constraints. Check every generated view: color, clothing, hands, footwear, and rear patterns may still be ignored or vary between views. There is no measured success rate for these examples or controlled English-versus-Japanese comparison.
The compiled prompt gives explicit instructions precedence for the named part and asks to preserve unspecified reference details. Hands / gloves and Feet / footwear instructions still apply in selected full-body views when the separate Hands and Footwear detail panels are off. Back-of-clothing instructions apply only to the rear garment surface in back/side views, never the front or portraits. A specific part wins over Overall / other; Back of clothing wins over Upper-body clothing on the rear surface. Instructions stay saved when views, presets, sizes, or tabs change; an instruction with no related selected view is kept but does not affect that prompt.
This is a deterministic local compiler, not image analysis or an LLM translator. Input is passed through verbatim, with no automatic translation. Japanese is accepted and retained, as are literal quotes, braces, backslashes, and requested lettering. It does not detect what is visible in the reference or interpret quoted text into a separate field. The mannequin preview shows layout only; it does not visualize the requested appearance. Broad model adherence, exact lettering, and GPU quality have not been systematically evaluated.
Usually start with the portrait/full-body views you need and leave Hands and Footwear off, as in the official five-view template. Add either panel when you need a separate close-up. These panels can be useful when specifying hand or shoe details missing from an upper-body-only reference; describe the intended design in the corresponding part field.
The Hands selector adds a hand-detail panel; it does not ask the character to wear gloves. Unwanted gloves have been reported, even with a kimono reference. This is a user observation, not a measured failure rate. Use a bare-hands instruction when needed and inspect both the full-body and detail views. Leaving detail panels off is a practical starting point, not a guarantee of better results.
Footwear selects a separate enlarged detail panel; shoes already visible in a full-body panel do not replace it. Without a relevant part instruction, the prompt preserves the reference's footwear, visible boot shafts, open-toed footwear, or bare feet as applicable. It cannot recover a shoe design absent from the reference. A Feet / footwear instruction can explicitly supply or change that design. The UI mannequin is only an illustration, not evidence of the generated result.
Local regression tests confirm selection reaches the saved input, layout, prompt and Designer output. The stronger detail instructions have not been evaluated on a GPU, so improved model compliance is not yet established. If a generated result omits the panel, retain the current workflow/API input, actual reference image and output for diagnosis.
The only input is state_json:
{"schema_version":1,"views":["face_front","body_front","body_left","body_back"],"size":{"mode":"auto","body_height":1120,"manual_width":2240,"manual_height":1280}}
Existing version-1 data remains supported without automatic rewriting. The first nonempty part edit explicitly upgrades the saved state to version 2, adding a required part_prompts object. For example:
{"schema_version":2,"views":["face_front","body_front","body_left","body_back"],"size":{"mode":"auto","body_height":1120,"manual_width":2240,"manual_height":1280},"part_prompts":{"lower_body":"Black long trousers","footwear":"Black boots","back_clothing":"A floral pattern and the word FLOWER on the back"}}
Allowed part IDs, in canonical order: head_hair, face, upper_clothing, back_clothing, lower_body, hands, footwear, other. Keys are optional inside the required object. Values must be strings, at most 1000 UTF-16 code units per part (matching the browser counter); whitespace-only values normalize away, while nonblank text is not trimmed. State JSON is limited to 64 KiB; the bounded preview HTTP envelope allows 192 KiB for escaping. Empty version-2 instructions generate the same prompt and geometry as version 1. Unknown versions are retained as visible errors, never silently downgraded or reset.
The compiler rejects missing or unknown keys, duplicate JSON keys, unknown versions/views, empty selections, non-integer dimensions, non-32-grid values, oversize inputs, and values above ComfyUI's runtime maximum. View duplicates are normalized into a fixed order. Equivalent states generate identical prompt bytes regardless of UI language or JSON formatting. Prompt text is not subject to dynamic prompt expansion.
The GUI uses same-server POST /h3_character_sheet_designer/preview with {"state_json":"..."}. This read-only endpoint performs no file writes, model execution, or external requests. Its response is advisory and never overwrites saved state. API/headless workflows do not call it.
# Development-only dependencies; not needed to use the custom node
python -m pip install -r requirements-dev.txt
npm install --ignore-scripts
python -m unittest discover -s tests -p 'test_*.py' -v
npm test
Node.js is needed only for developer tests, not installation or normal use. Without the optional development dependencies, standard-library Python and dependency-free JavaScript tests still run; HTTP/DOM tests explicitly report skips. npm run test:js runs the dependency-free frontend suite. To inspect the actual DOM renderer in a standalone browser harness:
python tests/serve_demo.py
# Open http://127.0.0.1:8765/tests/browser/
The harness uses the production compiler and UI renderer with a simulated ComfyUI boundary. It does not demonstrate ComfyUI installation, real frontend Undo/Redo, downstream queue acceptance, or GPU generation. See verification details for tested and untested stages. Legacy frontends, Nodes 2.0, and unspecified ComfyUI versions are not claimed compatible. On unsupported DOM-widget environments, the node retains a standard STRING input and headless compilation.
