What is this?
A modern, high-performance JavaScript utility library — everyday helper functions with a small bundle size and strong types. The README calls it a major upgrade to lodash.
Is this a fork of lodash, or its own library?
Its own standalone library with modern implementations, not a fork. For migration there is a separate entry, es-toolkit/compat — a complete compatibility layer that lets you seamlessly replace Lodash.
How do I add it to my project?
Install the npm package (npm install es-toolkit) and import only the functions you use — tree shaking is supported out of the box, cutting bundle size by up to 97% versus other libraries.
Will it drag a pile of other packages into node_modules?
No. The package has zero runtime dependencies, so installing it is the entire setup.
Which utilities does it include?
Everyday helpers such as debounce, delay, chunk, sum and pick, written as modern implementations of the functions you know from lodash-style libraries.
How much faster is it than lodash, really?
The README claims 2-3x better performance in modern JavaScript environments. It is battle-tested with 100% test coverage, and popular open-source projects like Storybook, Recharts, ink and CKEditor rely on it.
How is the TypeScript support?
First-class: types are built in and described as straightforward yet robust, and useful type guards such as isNotNil come bundled.
Can AI coding assistants help me use it?
Yes — es-toolkit ships Agent Skills for AI coding tools like Claude Code, Cursor and Copilot, and Claude Code users can also install them via the plugin marketplace.
Which topics is it in?
lodash, deno, no-dependencies, javascript-library, utility, benchmark, agent-skills, web-development, performance, free, npm, frontend
