What is this?
Devhints is a big collection of cheatsheets for web developers, published as a website at devhints.io - it calls itself 'TL;DR for developer documentation'.
Is this a website I read, or a tool I install?
It's a website: Markdown sheet sources in this repo are rendered into a static site served at devhints.io. You only clone the repo if you want to build or edit the sheets.
How do I run it locally?
Clone the repo, run npm install, then npm run dev - that starts the Astro dev server for local preview.
Will npm install be enough to build it?
No - the build also runs a Ruby script via Bundler that caches Markdown through kramdown, so Ruby must be installed too. Tests run through Vitest and Playwright.
Which similar projects does the README point to?
It lists Command Line Interface Pages, tldr-pages, and Cheat as similar cheatsheet collections.
Do I have to pay to use devhints?
No - the site is free to read, and the sheet sources are public on GitHub. No paid plans are mentioned.
