claudish README

The project's README from github.com/programasweights/claudish. As one markdown file: README.md.

Claudish

Translate between plain English and deliberately over-engineered “Claudish” with two tiny ProgramAsWeights functions.

Try the live demo

Python

pip install programasweights --extra-index-url https://pypi.programasweights.com/simple/
import programasweights as paw

to_claudish = paw.function("ca9d5165b6c8e6615529")
to_english = paw.function("e469f61ccab2699fbd51")

print(to_claudish("Only owners can merge."))
print(to_english("The honest shape is asymmetric: the data is correct; the format is hard to read. Correctness landed; legibility did not."))

The programs download once and then run locally. Pass no max_tokens; PAW stops naturally at EOS.

For a small command-line wrapper:

python translate.py to-claudish "The release can go out after Alice approves the final report."
python translate.py to-english "Here’s where I’d hold the line: do not launch until the tests pass. Green is the gate, not a suggestion."

Specs

Copy either spec into your own PAW program or adapt it for another model or workflow.

What is this?Claudish is a parody project that translates between plain English and a deliberately over-engineered joke language called 'Claudish' using two tiny 'ProgramAsWeights' (PAW) functions. It is an unofficial fan project, not affiliated with Anthropic.
Is this a full app or just some functions I call?It is a tiny Python library — just two PAW functions (english-to-claudish and claudish-to-english) — plus an example of wrapping them in a small command-line script; there is no standalone application.
How do I get it running?Call the two PAW functions directly from Python, or wrap them in a small CLI script as shown in the README; the underlying programs download once on first run and then execute locally.
Do I need anything besides Python installed?No extra dependencies are listed in the repo and there's no Docker setup required — it's plain Python.
Any gotchas when calling the translation functions?You should not pass a max-tokens limit — PAW stops naturally at the end-of-sequence token, so manual token tuning isn't needed (and could interfere with correct output).
What is ProgramAsWeights (PAW)?PAW is the format behind Claudish's two translation functions: instead of a traditional hand-coded script, the 'program' is downloaded once and then run locally to perform the English-to-Claudish translation.
What are the spec files for?specs/english-to-claudish.md and specs/claudish-to-english.md are the PAW program specifications; you can copy them into your own PAW program or adapt them for a different model or workflow.
Is this officially connected to Claude or Anthropic?No. The README explicitly states it's an unofficial parody project, not affiliated with Anthropic, and it was inspired by the gvzdv/claudish-to-english project.
Can I try it before installing anything?Yes — the README links a live demo so you can try the English-to-Claudish and Claudish-to-English translations in the browser first.
