primevue README

The project's README from github.com/primefaces/primevue. As one markdown file: README.md.

PrimeVue

[!WARNING] This repository is no longer under active development and receives security fixes only. PrimeVue continues as part of PrimeUI. Issues here are read-only. Bug reports and feature requests belong at PrimeUI; for security vulnerabilities, see SECURITY.md.

The next chapter has begun.

After years as an open source library, PrimeVue enters its next chapter as part of PrimeUI, a sustainable foundation for the libraries you rely on.

What this means

Existing MIT versions remain MIT, forever. Every release published under the MIT license stays exactly as it is. Your existing projects are unaffected. Nothing is taken away.

Security updates continue here. We keep publishing security fixes for the MIT-licensed releases. How to report one is in SECURITY.md.

Development continues at a new home. Active development, new releases, and everything ahead now live under PrimeUI.

Thank you

To everyone who used PrimeVue, filed an issue, opened a pull request, answered a question, or simply built something with it, thank you. This library reached hundreds of millions of downloads because of you.

The next chapter is just beginning, and we hope you'll be part of it.

What is this?PrimeVue is a Vue UI component library from PrimeTek: ready-made components like tables, trees, datepickers and selects that you drop into Vue web apps. It has been downloaded hundreds of millions of times.
How do I add it to my project?Install the PrimeVue package from npm into your Vue project (the monorepo publishes its packages that way), then follow the docs at primevue.dev.
Do I need anything besides a Vue app to use it?Just a Vue project — the components target Vue 3 and render in the browser, with no backend or native runtime involved. Building the library itself needs Node >= 12.11.0 and pnpm.
Is PrimeVue still actively developed here? No. This repository receives security fixes only, and its issues are read-only: active development, new releases, bug reports and feature requests have all moved to PrimeUI.
Is this a web library or a native app?Purely web: components render in the browser inside your Vue app, so any platform with a modern browser works. There is no native or mobile edition.
Is it free, and what happens to the license after the move to PrimeUI?It is MIT and stays that way: every release published under MIT remains MIT forever, and security fixes keep being published for those MIT releases here. Existing projects are unaffected.
What is PrimeUI?It is the new foundation PrimeTek moved PrimeVue into — a sustainable home where active development, new releases and issue tracking for the library now happen. The announcement is at primeui.dev/nextchapter.
Why did PrimeTek move PrimeVue into PrimeUI?The README frames it as the library's next chapter: after years as an open source project, PrimeVue joined PrimeUI, described as 'a sustainable foundation for the libraries you rely on'.
Which components does the library include? It is a broad UI kit — the repo's own topics highlight DataTable, Tree and TreeTable, DatePicker, Select, and general grid, table and tree components for Vue 3 apps.
How widely used is it?Very: the README credits the community with 'hundreds of millions of downloads', and the repository shows around 14.4k stars.
