What is this?
Phabricator is a collection of web applications for software development, tied to code review and to Git, Mercurial and SVN repositories.
Is it a hosted service I sign up for, or something I run myself?
You host it yourself: it is self-hosted web software rather than a sign-up service, and the repository ships no Docker or Compose setup, so deployment means your own server stack.
Is Phabricator still being developed?
No. Effective June 1, 2021 the project is no longer actively maintained, so expect no new features, fixes or updates.
Can I use and modify the code freely?
Yes — it is released under the Apache 2.0 license, with the caveat 'except as otherwise noted', so a few parts may carry different terms.
Which version control systems does it integrate with?
Git, Mercurial and Subversion (SVN) — all three are listed among the project's repository topics.
Can I still run it today?
The code is still available under Apache 2.0, but adopting it means self-hosting a suite nobody has maintained since June 2021, so bugs and security issues are yours to handle.
Which topics is it in?
software-engineering, version-control, self-hosting, code-review, collaboration, php, app, git, deprecated, web-app, tool, apache-2.0
