What is this?
GSD (Get Shit Done) is a meta-prompting, context engineering and spec-driven development system built on top of Claude Code, created by TÂCHES.
Is this a standalone app or something I add to Claude Code?
It is a framework/toolkit that layers structured prompting and workflow conventions on top of Claude Code's agent sessions, not a separate application you run on its own.
How do I get it running?
You can't set it up from this repo anymore: it has moved, and current source, releases and install instructions now live in the 'Open GSD' repository under 'GSD Core'.
Do I need Claude Code to use this?
Yes, GSD is built specifically to extend Claude Code, and its codebase depends on the @anthropic-ai/claude-agent-sdk package plus Node.js 22 or newer.
Is this repo still maintained?
No, this repository is archived and frozen; all active development, issues and contributions have moved to the separate Open GSD repository (GSD Core).
What does spec-driven development mean in GSD?
It means turning a rough idea into a structured plan or spec before Claude Code starts writing code, instead of prompting the agent ad hoc.
Why was this repo archived instead of just updated?
The maintainers relocated the active project to a new repository called 'Open GSD' with the core renamed 'GSD Core', leaving this one as a historical snapshot.
Should I still fork or install from this repository?
No, since it's archived you should go to the Open GSD / GSD Core repository instead to get working code, docs and support.
