Doodles-as-A-Service Repo

CC BY-SA 4.0

👋 Aloha, this is where you can grab most of my tech doodles and sketchnotes.

I have been posting my tech doodles on Twitter and Microsoft open-source projects. I am repeatedly asked where to get the original images, especially from people who saw some of my works out of context on some social media, so I decided to put them all together on one GitHub repo.

Here are some of the latest digitally created hand-drawn doodles, as well as photos of analog ones.

All my doodles are under Creative a Commons license, so please share with attributions. And I definitely don't want you to NFT them without my permission (and I won't permit you because you don't own them. They are open-sourced to be freely available for educational purpose only!)

Enjoy 🌺

Git Purr - Git Explained with Cats!

This series is my earlier work and everything is drawn in very analog way.

I am planning to recreate digitally someday. Git cherrypick is the only one that digitally handdrawn after I got an iPad with Pencil.

HTTP Status Cats 🐱

This is one of my first personal projects to make technology into cats. Although this is not doodling, I thought it was worth mentioning here!

All HTTP Cats are now hosted at HTTP.cat because the domain name is awesome.

All images (except a few) are originally created by me a decade ago! Read the story on Know Your Meme

Slack API Zine

/slack

└── 📁slack

These are something I did while working at Slack. I created the zine (as physical printed books) to be distributed at Slack-sponsored events and conferences but never got fully approved. The global pandemic forced us to give up all in-person events anyway.

The content is outdated as of 2022 so view them with cautions.

Searching Database…

What is this?A personal collection of hand-drawn and digital tech doodles and sketchnotes explaining complex tech concepts (algorithms, web dev, machine learning, git, generative AI) in simple pictures.
Is this a tool or just a collection of images? It is a static image repository, not code or software - just folders of doodle images organized by topic that you can browse or download.
How is the content organized?Images are grouped into topic folders like /generative-ai, /algorithms, /webdev, /ml, /git-purr, /teams, /sketchnotes, and /slack, each covering a themed set of doodles.
Do I need any software to use these? No, you just browse or download the image files from the repo folders directly.
Can I use these images freely, even commercially? They are free to share with attribution under CC BY-SA 4.0, but the author explicitly forbids minting them as NFTs, and some content (like the Slack zine) is outdated as of 2022.
Who are the doodles meant for? They're aimed at educators, students, and developers wanting simple visual explanations of programming concepts, originally made for Microsoft's 'Web Dev for Beginners' and 'Machine Learning for Beginners' curricula.
What is Git Purr? It's an early, mostly hand-drawn series that explains git commands (pull, merge, rebase, push, cherry-pick) using cat-themed puns like 'git meowge' and 'git puss'.
What are HTTP Status Cats? One of the author's first personal projects turning HTTP status codes into cat photos; most of these images are now hosted separately at HTTP.cat.
Where did the author originally share these doodles? She posted them on Twitter and in Microsoft open-source projects before consolidating everything into this GitHub repo due to repeated requests for the originals.
