What is this?
A collaborative, curated list of open-source iOS, iPadOS, watchOS, tvOS and visionOS apps, organized by category so you can find real-world example code for any kind of Apple app.
Is this an app itself or just an index of links?
It is just a Markdown index: a single README linking out to dozens of separate open-source repositories and App Store listings, not a runnable app.
How is the list organized and where should I start browsing?
Entries are grouped under a 'Jump to' table of contents covering platforms (Apple TV, Watch, Vision) and app categories (Browser, Finance, Game, Health, Media, News, Security, etc.), each with a short description, tech tags, year, and star count.
Do I need anything special to explore these apps?
No, you just need an Xcode setup to build whichever individual project you pick, since each linked repo has its own requirements (Swift, Objective-C, Flutter, React Native, etc.).
Are all these projects actively maintained and vetted?
The list mixes very recently updated projects (2026) with older, possibly stale ones (2020-2021), and entries vary widely in popularity, from single-star demos to apps with 20k+ stars, so quality and maintenance level differ a lot per entry.
Who is this useful for?
iOS/Swift developers looking for real production-quality code examples, people wanting open-source alternatives to closed apps, and tinkerers who want to build their own version of a popular app category.
Does the list cover non-iPhone Apple platforms too?
Yes, it has dedicated sections for Apple TV, Apple Vision (visionOS), and Apple Watch apps in addition to the main iPhone/iPad entries.
What kind of frameworks show up besides native Swift/Objective-C?
There is a Misc section calling out cross-platform and architecture choices like Flutter, React Native, Ionic, Xamarin, SwiftUI, RxSwift, Realm, Firebase, and GraphQL used by various listed apps.
Can I add my own open-source app to the list?
Yes, the README explicitly invites community contributions to extend the collection.
Are there well-known app clones in the list?
Yes, there is a dedicated 'Clone' category, plus examples like a NetflixVisionPro clone and a Minecraft clone (VisionCraft) built for visionOS.
What are similar projects?
AFNetworking, SVProgressHUD, SDWebImage, CocoaLumberjack, Mantle, Alamofire, SwiftyJSON, sill
