🔑 Connect with third-party apps using the package name

The app's package name is "com.deniscerri.ytdl".

🔍 Verify application signature

The app should contain the signature below. The github workflow action uses it, and the releases are based on it to make it a reproducible build. If the signature is different, your third party distributor has modified the application. Please use the app with the original signature.

Signer #1 certificate DN: CN=Denis Cerri, OU=Personal, O=Personal, L=Albania, ST=Albania, C=AL
Signer #1 certificate SHA-256 digest: 263645cb5272eb290759fe1f59149ae24df6ce171e9f6666eead981d3fc64c95
Signer #1 certificate SHA-1 digest: 2fec9c2fcef68d29a60857e185c795fec5f56fb6

🤖 Connect with third-party apps using intents

You can use intents to push commands to the app to run downloads without user interaction. Accepted variables:

TYPE -> it can be: audio, video, command
BACKGROUND -> it can be: true, false. If its true the app won't show the download card no matter what and run the download in the background

An example of downloading an audio item in the background with Tasker

  1. Create Send Intent task
  2. Action: android.intent.action.SEND
  3. Cat: Default
  4. Mime Type: text/*
  5. Extra: android.intent.extra.TEXT:url (instead of "url" write the URL of the video you want to download)
  6. Extra: TYPE:audio
  7. Extra: BACKGROUND:true

📄 License

GNU GPL v3.0

Except for the source code licensed under the GPLv3 license, all other parties are prohibited from using the "YTDLnis" name as a downloader app, and the same is true for its derivatives. Derivatives include but are not limited to forks and unofficial builds.

What is this?YTDLnis is a free, open-source Android app that downloads audio and video from YouTube and many other sites using yt-dlp.
Is this a standalone app or a wrapper around a command-line tool? It's a native Android app with a Material You interface that wraps yt-dlp, exposing most of its features through a GUI instead of the terminal, though a built-in terminal is also included.
How do I install it and start downloading?Install the APK (Android 7.0+) and either paste/search a link in the app or use the share menu's bottom card to send a URL directly to YTDLnis.
Do I need to install Python or FFmpeg separately? No, the app manages its own components: Python, JS runtimes, FFmpeg and Aria2c are handled as plugins you can install/update via the in-app updating section or the ytdlnis-packages repo.
Does the app always get the original signature, or could my APK be tampered with? The project warns that third-party distributors may modify the app, so you should verify the release signature against the one published in the repo to be sure you have an unmodified build.
Does it keep a record of what I download?By default it logs downloads for troubleshooting, but an Incognito mode lets you download without saving history or logs.
What are the terms of its GPLv3 license? It's GNU GPL v3.0, but the project name 'YTDLnis' itself is restricted: forks and unofficial builds are not allowed to use that name for a downloader app.
Can I trim or edit videos before saving them?Yes, you can cut videos based on timestamps or chapters (an experimental yt-dlp feature) with unlimited cuts, remove SponsorBlock segments, and split items into separate files by chapter.
Can I schedule or batch downloads?Yes, you can queue downloads, schedule them for specific dates/times (including multiple at once), download several items simultaneously, and even feed in a text file full of links or search queries.
Can other apps trigger downloads automatically?Yes, YTDLnis accepts Android intents with TYPE (audio/video/command) and BACKGROUND variables, so tools like Tasker can trigger silent background downloads without opening the app.
Does it support logging into accounts for private videos?Yes, it supports cookies so you can log in with your accounts to download private or unavailable videos and unlock premium formats.
