Installation

Note: The voltagent-meta orchestration agents work best when other categories installed.

Option 1: Manual Installation

  1. Clone this repository
  2. Copy desired agent files to:
    • ~/.claude/agents/ for global access
    • .claude/agents/ for project-specific use
  3. Customize based on your project requirements

Option 2: Interactive Installer

cd awesome-claude-code-subagents
./install-agents.sh

This interactive script lets you browse categories, select agents, and install/uninstall them with a single command.

Option 3: Standalone Installer (no clone required)

chmod +x install-agents.sh
./install-agents.sh

Downloads agents directly from GitHub without cloning the repository. Requires curl.

Option 4: Agent Installer (use Claude Code to install agents)

What is this?A curated collection of 158+ specialized subagents for Claude Code: ready-made AI assistants, each tuned to one development task, organized into 10 categories from core development to data and AI.
So it's not an app — what do I actually get when I install it?Agent definition files, not an app: drop them in ~/.claude/agents/ for global access in every project, or in .claude/agents/ to scope them to one repo, then customize them to your needs.
How do I install the agents?As a Claude Code plugin (recommended), by copying files manually, via the interactive installer that browses categories and installs with one command, through the curl-based standalone installer (no clone needed), or with the agent-installer inside Claude Code itself.
Do I need anything besides Claude Code itself?No — Claude Code is the only real requirement. The one exception is the standalone installer, which additionally needs curl.
Any gotchas before I start installing agents?The voltagent-meta orchestration agents only work well once the other categories are installed — so pick up the specialists you need before relying on them.
Which stacks do the language-specialist agents cover?About 30 of them: TypeScript, Python, Go, Rust, Java, Swift, Kotlin, PHP, C#, C++ and Elixir experts, plus framework-specific ones for Next.js, Django, Rails, Spring Boot, FastAPI, Flutter and React Native.
