Coming to Apple devices: Fathom has no Mac or iPhone app yet, because building and testing them needs a Mac and an iPhone. Chip in on Ko-fi. Fathom stays free either way.

Fathom brings your whole Jellyfin setup into one window: movies, shows, music, and Live TV, plus most of Jellyfin's server-side management, so you rarely need the web dashboard. Two optional integrations, Seerr requests and a full YouTube client, live right inside the app. Everything plays through mpv (via media_kit / libmpv), so you get direct play, hardware decoding, and real subtitle and audio track control.

Highlights

See the feature tour for the full list.

Install

Fathom runs on Linux and Windows (self-contained, nothing else to install) and on Android phones, tablets, and foldables, with Android Auto. Android TV is supported but experimental for now. macOS and iOS need Mac hardware.

Grab the latest build from Releases. On Linux:

chmod +x Fathom-x86_64.AppImage
./Fathom-x86_64.AppImage

On Android, download the .apk and open it to install (allow installs from your browser or file manager if prompted). The same APK covers phones, tablets, and Android TV (Android TV is experimental for now).

Full instructions, first-run setup, and troubleshooting are in the documentation.

Documentation

The docs cover installing, connecting your server, every feature, the update channels, and troubleshooting:

Contributing

ARCHITECTURE.md is a tour of the codebase; ROADMAP.md tracks what's planned. Build from source, tests, and the translation workflow are in the contributing guide. Translations are welcome by pull request.

Support

Fathom is free and open source, and always will be. No paid tier, nothing behind a donation, no telemetry. It's built and maintained by one person.

The current goal is a Mac and an iPhone. Building Fathom for macOS or iOS needs the Mac, and testing on a real phone needs the iPhone. The same fund covers the Trace apps, which need the same hardware, so it's one goal rather than two. The itemised breakdown is on the Support page.

Helping doesn't have to cost anything: starring the repo, reporting bugs with detail, and translating all count.

What is this?Fathom is an all-in-one client for Jellyfin that puts your movies, shows, music, and Live TV in one desktop or Android app, with optional built-in Seerr requests and a full YouTube client.
Is it just a video player, or does it handle server admin too?It also covers most of Jellyfin's server-side management — users, libraries, scheduled tasks, transcoding, Live TV and DVR — so you rarely need the web dashboard. Playback runs through mpv.
How do I get it running?Download the latest build from the GitHub Releases page; Linux and Windows builds are self-contained. On Android, download the .apk and open it, and the docs walk you through first-run setup.
Do I need to install mpv or any codecs first? No. The app is self-contained on Linux and Windows with nothing else to install — playback goes through bundled mpv (libmpv) with direct play and hardware decoding.
Which platforms does it run on, and is macOS supported?Official builds cover Linux, Windows, and Android, including experimental Android TV. macOS and iOS aren't shipped yet because building them needs Mac hardware the one-person project is still funding.
Is it really free, or is there a paid tier? It's completely free and open source under the GNU Affero General Public License v3.0, and the README promises it stays that way. One nuance: SponsorBlock data comes from an API under CC BY-NC-SA 4.0.
Do I need my own Jellyfin server to use it?Yes — Fathom is a client for your Jellyfin server, and first-run setup in the docs covers connecting it. The app doesn't host media itself.
What does the built-in YouTube client include?Search, subscriptions, local playlists, downloads, and theater mode, plus SponsorBlock and DeArrow — with no account and no ads. It shares the same player controls as Jellyfin playback.
Can I control playback with the keyboard and see technical details?Yes. Jellyfin and YouTube share one control bar with keyboard shortcuts, speed control, and audio and subtitle track pickers, plus a Playback Info overlay showing codecs, resolution, and the live hardware-decode path.
Does it support watching together or casting?Yes — SyncPlay watch-together and casting are built in, along with picture-in-picture and an internet radio mode with live time-shift. Themes include light, dark, and AMOLED.
