What is this?
This is a Python reimplementation of all the code, figures and examples from Sutton & Barto's textbook 'Reinforcement Learning: An Introduction' (2nd Edition).
Is this a library I import, or a set of standalone example scripts?
It's a collection of standalone Python scripts, one set per book chapter, each reproducing a specific figure or example from the text.
How do I run the examples?
Clone the repository and run the script for the chapter/figure you want directly with Python, since every file is self-contained and needs no project setup.
What do I need installed before running the scripts?
Python 3.6 plus numpy, matplotlib, seaborn and tqdm.
Does this include solutions to the book's exercises?
No, the maintainer explicitly says exercise answers are not provided; the repo only covers the figures and worked examples shown in the chapters.
How is the code organized?
By book chapter (1 through 13), with each numbered item corresponding to a specific figure or example from that chapter, e.g. Chapter 6 covers Sarsa on windy gridworld and Q-learning vs Double Q-learning.
What RL algorithms and topics are covered?
Bandits, dynamic programming, Monte Carlo methods, TD learning (Sarsa, Q-learning, Double Q-learning), n-step methods, Dyna planning, function approximation (tile coding, Fourier basis), eligibility traces (TD-lambda), and policy gradient (REINFORCE).
