What is this?QloApps is a free, open-source hotel management and reservation system: a booking engine plus a Property Management System (PMS) that powers your own hotel booking website.
So is this a hosted service I sign up for, or software I install myself? It is self-hosted web software, not a hosted service: you install it on your own hosting (Apache, Nginx or IIS) or local machine. A Docker image is available as well.
How do I get it running?Download the QloApps package and follow its installation guide — the installer checks server compatibility and stops if requirements are not met. Alternatively, deploy the ready Docker image.
What does the server need to have installed?A web server (Apache 1.3/2.x, Nginx or IIS), PHP 8.1 to 8.4 with extensions like PDO_MySQL, cURL, GD and SOAP, and MySQL 5.7 to 8.4 with a database created in advance.
What is the main gotcha during installation? The installer refuses to continue if the server is incompatible, and PHP settings must be raised (memory_limit 128M, upload_max_filesize 16M, max_execution_time 500), which shared hosts may need to adjust for you.
Can I test it on my own Windows or Mac machine before deploying?Yes, for local setups it runs on Windows, Mac and Linux using prepared packages like WampServer, XAMPP or EasyPHP; in production it lives on a hosted server.
It is free to use, but is there anything unusual about the license? The core is under OSL-3.0, modules authored by Webkul carry their own license (LICENSE.md inside each module), and other modules are under AFL-3.0.
Can I try it before installing anything?Yes, there is an official online demo — sign in with [email protected] and password demodemo to look around before committing to an install.
Who develops QloApps?Webkul — the README is credited 'Crafted with heart at Webkul'. PHP developers comfortable with MySQL and Git can also contribute improvements via pull requests.
Is it aimed at small guesthouses or large hotel chains? Both: the project positions itself as a one-stop solution for everyone from small independent hotels to big hotel chains — launch a website, showcase the property, take and manage bookings.
Can guests pay for bookings directly on the website?Yes, payments can be processed internally, but that requires an SSL certificate on the server; using an external gateway like PayPal avoids that requirement.
