What is this?
It is a reference resource that shows plain, vanilla JavaScript equivalents for common jQuery methods, so you can check if you still need jQuery for a given task and browser support level.
Is this a library I install, or just a reference site?
It is a static reference website (YouMightNotNeedjQuery.com) built with Astro — there is nothing to add to your project, you just look up a jQuery method and copy the vanilla JS snippet shown.
How do I run the site locally to add a new example?
Clone the repo, run npm install in the project directory, then npm run dev to build and watch for changes, or npm run build for a one-off production build.
Do I need anything besides Node.js to build it?
No, Node.js is the only requirement for building the project; there are no other listed dependencies.
Any catch when picking a snippet?
Since examples are split per IE version, you need to know your minimum supported browser first — an ie9.js snippet also covers ie10, ie11, and modern browsers, but won't work for ie8.
Is there a live version I can browse without cloning the repo?
Yes, the content from this repo powers the public site YouMightNotNeedjQuery.com.
