Why are some tools featured?

It's simple. We're at 200+ tools, and a lot of them are similar. To break the homogeneity, I flag the unique ones to the top. This is biased since "what is uniqueness?" and I simply define that as a tool that is different from the other ones. Whether it's outstanding quality, or simply a very unique idea.

Searching Database…

What is this?NoSignups (formerly FckSignups) is a curated directory of open-source, in-browser tools that work instantly without creating an account, giving an email, or being tracked.
Is this an actual website, or just a list on GitHub?It is the source code for a browsable directory website (built with React and TypeScript), organized into categories like Productivity, Design, Development, and Privacy, rather than a plain markdown list.
How do I run this locally?Clone the repo, install the dependencies, and run the dev server - the project uses Vite, so that means 'npm install' followed by 'npm run dev'.
What do I need to run it myself?Just Node.js and npm to install the React/React-DOM dependencies and start the Vite dev server; no backend, database, or API keys are required.
Are all the listed tools equally recommended? Not exactly - entries can carry a 'notRecommendedReason' field, and which tools get pinned as 'Featured' is openly admitted to be a subjective call by the maintainer.
Does the NoSignups site itself track visitors? No - the project applies its own philosophy to itself, with no cookies or analytics on the site.
How is the directory organized?Tools are grouped into categories such as Productivity, Design & Graphics, Development, Writing & Docs, Privacy, Utilities, Data & Analytics, Media, and Education, each with searchable tags and an optional GitHub link, star count, and license.
How do I submit a tool to the list?Use the 'SUBMIT A TOOL' button on the site, or follow the contribution guidelines directly: the tool must work without an account, descriptions must stay under 140 characters, and entries should use 3-5 relevant tags.
Why are some entries marked Featured? With 200+ similar tools listed, the maintainer manually flags the ones they consider genuinely unique or outstanding to break up the homogeneity - a deliberately subjective curation choice.
